My mam use to call this refrigerator casserole{LOL} wonderful names for great recipe thanks high5

One of my foodie friends was telling me about how her ma used to do something like this...I've been trying extra hard to save all my bits. :)

Me, too!

I keep all of the liquid off of any canned veggies I use in 1/2 gallon plastic jugs in the freezer and use that to make my stews and soups with. Your idea and mine seem to be a perfect match!!! Love your recipe BTW!

OMG! chef elaine!!! I just now read this recipe
!!!!! I LOVE IT!!! I make many dishes like this only for econimicle reasons, but I have found this to be the most tasty way also to cook! I plan on using smaltz (chicken fat) (I knew you knew that!)alot more often in the future as well also! Also I believe bacon fat is WAY more useful than the prevailing media "allows". I am not a big fan of the popular "take" on animal fat...I think it has a great impotance in our diet that is over looked! Vit B-12 for instance!

Sounds FULL of flavor and I can't wait to give it a try!

I love your idea of a practical and yummy way to make use of all those "bits" that are left. Such a healthy way to thicken the broth! Thanks for your post, Chef! Five forks.

I love this idea. 5 forks!

Funny, my mother used to keep a container in the freezer for just this purpose, and now I do it, too! Love it, love it, love it!!
