How to make it

  • Mix shortening into dry ingredients then add enough buttermilk to make soft dough.
  • Roll thick and cut in strips 3” long and 1” wide.
  • Cut a slit in center about 1” long and slip one end through slit to form tangles effect.
  • Fry in deep fat until golden brown.
  • Serve with molasses or honey.
