How to make it

  • Adjust oven rack to middle position and preheat oven to 350.
  • Butter a tube pan then dust with flour and shake out any excess.
  • In large bowl using electric mixer beat butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs 1 at a time beating well after each addition.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar beating until combined.
  • Using spoon stir in flour, cocoa and nuts then mix until combined.
  • Scrape batter into prepared pan and spread it evenly then bake 55 minutes.
  • Transfer pan to a wire rack to cool for 1 hour.
  • Invert onto a serving plate and set aside to cool completely.
  • To make glaze combine powdered sugar, cocoa and half of the milk.
  • Mix until blended adding some of the remaining milk 1/2 tablespoon at a time until spreadable.
  • Spoon glaze over top of cooled cake allowing some to run down the sides.
