How to make it

  • In a saucepan, combine the orange juice, sugar, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer.
  • Stud the oranges with the whole cloves, then slice into eights. Place into the simmering mixture and continue cooking for about 30 minutes until the mixture gets thick and syrupy.
  • Pour in the wine and heat through, but do not BOIL.
  • Serve in mugs.

    Oh, I so LOVE good drinks for Christmas season - esp those with history and tried/true quality...and plenty of cloves. Love the old world spices (in everything!) I suppose that may be from my German heritage - but I expect heavy spices as such in just about everything lol. Thank you for sharing!

    I love this stuff! Warms the soul. Brings back fond memories of roaming the Stuttgart Weinactsfest Markt with a mug in my hands and shopping for great Christmas presents to bring home to America.
