How to make it

  • In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt and basil.
  • Cut in shortening until crumbly.
  • Stir in the sour cream.
  • Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Press pastry into a 9-inch pie place, with fluted edges if desired.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. COOL COMPLETELY.
  • In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, bacon and onion.
  • Layer half the tomatoes in the crust
  • Top with half the mayonnaise mixture.
  • Repeat layers.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serve
  • ***Reduced-fat Sour Cream or Mayonnaise may be used. I don't recommend Fat-free, as it's too runny when heated.**
