Ingredients

How to make it

  • Directions:
  • Preheat oven to 400º. Coat a 2-qt. casserole dish with nonstick spray.
  • Spread bread cubes on a baking dish and toast in the oven until golden, about 10 minutes.
  • For the sauce, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour; cook for 1-2 minutes. Whisk in the milk, a little at a time so as to avoid any lumps. Add broth and sherry, whisk and bring to a simmer, cook until thick, about 2-3 minutes. Whisk in the Cheddar and Parmesan until smooth. Add the pimentos and Frank’s; season sauce with salt to taste.
  • To assemble, toss bread with 1 cup of sauce and layer in the bottom of the casserole. Layer the turkey and add the remaining sauce. Bake in oven for 20 minutes.
  • To Finish: Preheat the broiler to high with the rack about 6 inches from the element. Broil casserole until browned and bubbly, about 2-3 minutes.
  • To Serve: Top with slices of tomato and slices of bacon. Sprinkle with grated Romano Cheese. Optional - Serve with a fresh fruit salad to accompany the richness of the casserole.
