How to make it

  • Pour the 4 cups milk into a medium-large saucepan. ,Very slowly sprinkle the cornmeal over the top of the milk, a little at a time at a medium heat setting. Stirring frequently or whisking all the time. Do this until the mixture thickens. This should take about 10 minutes. Remove from heat when thickened.
  • Add the bits of butter and let cool about 10 minutes.
  • Fold in the rest of the ingredients and pour into a 1 1/2 qt. casserole. Bake at 325 for about 1 1/2 hrs. A knife will come out almost clean.Remove from oven and let cool to serve.
  • optionally served mixed with cool whip about equal measurements of each. delish!
