How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 375ยบ.
  • Cook pasta according to the directions on the box, drain and place in cold water until ready to use.
  • Saute the onions in olive oil until translucent, add sliced or crumbled sausage and brown well. Add bottled or your meatless sauce to the mixture and bring to a boil. Simmer until used.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, add the ricotta, nutmeg, basil and parsley and mix well.
  • Spray 9" x 12" baking dish with cooking mist.
  • Place a layer of sauce on the bottom of the baking dish.
  • **Place 3 cooked noodles over the sauce, overlap if necessary.
  • Spoon and spread 1/2 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
  • Sprinkle 1/4th of the mozzarella &1/3 of the Romano cheese
  • Spread a thick layer of sauce over the cheese.
  • Beginning with the noodles, repeat from ** once.
  • Place the last 3 noodles on top of the last sauce and cover with remainder of sauce, mozzarella and Romano cheese.
  • Place on a cookie tray, (to save your oven) and bake for 30 minutes.
  • If the lasagna begins to brown, top with aluminum foil.
  • Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

    I made this recipe yesterday using the cook's recipe for the Home Bolognese Meat Sauce. WOW was this a FABULOUS dish! I shared some with a neighbor today who had it for dinner this evening. She just called and asked for the recipe...said it was the best lasagna she had ever eaten :) I love the recipe and highly recommend it with the Bolognese Meat Sauce!
