How to make it
- I know Christmas is supposed to be a vacation of sorts...but,the 'Bell' has rung.
- Bourbon...'the biting brown booze'
- ...but,
- An 'Honest' Spirit
- Age?
- What's in a number...for most part, the bottles of Bourbon come from a blend of batches that can and will range in age by several years...and just because an age claim has to reflect the youngest whiskey in a batch it will make the drink misleadingly young...We're talking Bourbon...not Scotch here...All Bourbons are Whiskey...not all Whiskies are Bourbons
- Rest assured...It's 'All American'
- One thing about Bourbon...what you dink from the bottle is what comes from the barrel...well,that and a good ole' healthy dose of water to bring the proof down a tad
- Cognac...'with some intriguing color'
- An 'Extra'
- You will want one that you can have 'neat'
- One that has 'Ginger Bread Dancing In Your Head'...Well,it was the night before Christmas you know
- ...and,
- the rancio notes were like you had just dipped your spoon into a orange marmalade that coexisted with some heat as it sits in a cedar lined den, enjoying the warmth as it drapes your palate like the feel of a snug cashmere lined pendleton blanket as it releases its mellowness you are enjoying all the joined ¸.•*´¨`*•♪♫ into a full bloom.
- Rum...Also known as 'Kill Devil'
- Nutmeg...'All's fare in love and war'
- You really get two for one here...A 'nut' who is 'maced'
- Nutmeg being known as harboring a 'deliriant'...a cause characterized by confabulation, confusion, and stupor, making one have phantom behaviors such as disrobing and plucking, and holding full conversations with imagined people, finishing a complex multi stage action and then suddenly discovering one had not even begun yet and not being able to recognize one's own reflection in a mirror...and for this reason it has been banned in the Middle East...Humm? Okay guys,I know that Hershey was the secret weapon in WWII...Nutmegs in your K-ration to be given out as a token?? Just saying ~ Big Grin ~ I see those little lumps in your back packs as you are going back to your arduous duties in the sand box...Give em' hell boys...or give em' a nutmeg,or,both :o)
- Sea Salt...Uh? Ok,you already have the Rum :o)
- Separate the eggs...that's okay, they knew it was coming :o)
- Save the whites for an Angel Food...that's okay,it's coming soon also :o)
- In a bowl, beat the holy crap out of the yolks with the sugar and nutmeg until it lightens up and falls away from the whisk in a solid ribbon...Hum? Ribbon?Oh,that's right,I know where the bow goes ~ Laughing ~
- Combine the dairy, booze, salt in a different bowl and slowly, methodically, beat into the egg mixture.
- Just pour the mixture into mason jars, screw on the jar lids, slide em' in the cooler on the bottom, back shelf until...CHRISTMAS!
- Yep!
- You'er goin' to want this to age anywhere from two weeks to a year.
- Yes!
- You may drink it right away
- ~but~
- What would I give you come Christmas?
- A wink and a nod for this nog ?
- He gave me a pony for Christmas that year, one I could not keep...now,I wish I had!
- One can always wish upon a star, can't they?
- Sure they can...
- I look up every evening and see him there.
- ~ Hold on to the gifts given...Before they are gone ~
