How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350
  • Lightly grease 13" X 9" cake pan
  • Set aside 1 cup of cake mix for filling
  • Crust - In large bowl combine remaining cake mix, butter, and 1 slightly beaten egg.
  • Mix with fork until crumbly.
  • Turn into prepared cake pan and press into an even layer in pan bottom.
  • Bake for 12 minutes.
  • Filling - Combine 3 eggs, brown sugar, corn syrup, and vanilla.
  • Add the 1 cup of cake mix that was set aside earlier.
  • Stir until well blended.
  • Spread evenly over baked crust.
  • Sprinkle pecans over filling.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until filling appears to be set when gently shaken.
  • Cool completely before cutting.
  • FOOTNOTES:
  • White cake mix can be used with no discernable change in flavor.
  • I usually cut into 1"X2" pieces
