How to make it

  • 1. Drizzle Olive Oil onto both sides the bread. Can sub Italian dressing.
  • 2. Placed four 1 oz slices of mozzarella cheese on the sandwich.
  • 3. On top of the cheese I added torn leaves of fresh basil.
  • 4. Then the 2-4 slices of prosciutto.
  • 5. Then came the ripest tomatoes I could find, this is even better with your own home grown tomatoes!
  • 6. Salt and pepper the sandwich again.
  • 7. Placed the sandwich on the panini press which is at a medium low temperature setting.
  • 8. Then adjust the top plate to just rest on top of the bread.
  • 9. Set the timer for 5 minutes.
  • 10. When the timer rings it should look like the picture! Golden brown, crisp texture on the outside, the cheese is melted but the tomatoes not stewed!
  • If you don’t have a panini press you can do these in the broiler or on your gas grill. I know a free spirit who does these in a waffle iron.
