Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup orange juice, superfood, helps your body absorb calcium shopping list

  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds, superfood, make sure these are ground first shopping list
  • 1 teaspoon ground dried cinnamon, superfood shopping list
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground dried nutmeg, superfood shopping list
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground dried cardamom, superfood shopping list
  • a shallow dash powdered shatavari, Traditional Ayurvedic Herb for Women (I have the teaspoons that are tab, dash, pinch If you do not I think it is a shallow 1/8 th of a teaspoon) shopping list
  • a shallow dash powdered ashwagandha root, superfood, used frequently in Ayurvedic medicine (I have the teaspoons that are tab, dash, pinch If you do not I think it is a shallow 1/8 th of a teaspoon) shopping list
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey, superfood, maybe even powdered honey instead shopping list
  • 1 tablespoon fresh diced turmeric, superfood - OR - 1 teaspoon ground dried turmeric shopping list
  • fresh ground pepper, superfood, I do 10 grinds, helps your body utilize turmeric shopping list
  • himalayan pink salt, superfood, I do 10 grinds shopping list
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sliced ginger, superfood - OR - 1 teaspoon ground dried ginger shopping list
  • 1/4 apple, superfood shopping list
  • 1/3 banana, superfood shopping list
  • 1/4 cup strawberries / mangoes / pears, any or all, all superfoods, i normally just add one of them to the mix shopping list
  • 1/4 cup blueberries, superfood shopping list
  • 1/4 fresh chopped beet, superfood shopping list
  • 1/2 avocado, superfood shopping list
  • 1/2 cup greek yogurt, superfood shopping list
  • 1/4 cup cacao, superfood - OR - 1 serving protein mix, flavor of choice, I like vanilla - OR - you can do both, it's up to you shopping list
  • 1 teaspoon home made vanilla extract - superfood, do NOT use intimation, see my recipe for homemade vanilla extract and homemade vanilla paste, you can use either one in this - or even powdered vanilla beans shopping list
  • 1/2 cup oat milk - more or less -, superfood shopping list
  • You can throw a handful of fresh spinach or kale in this. Both Superfoods! shopping list

How to make it

  • I only have a personal sized blender. I would use a real blender to make this if I had one. It's really up to you which one you use. If using a regular blender put the oat milk in in the beginning with the orange juice.
  • Throw this all into your blender of choice.
  • I add them in the order I have them listed in.
  • Blend until well blended and hopefully a thick liquid.
  • About 50 seconds.
  • If it needs more liquid to thin it out use a little more oat milk or orange juice.
  • You can divide this into two glasses and drink one for breakfast and then one for lunch. Or one for an after dinner snack one night and the other one the next night, again up to you.
  • You may want to soak the seeds in the oat milk overnight before adding the rest of your ingredients, remember to stir them up before adding everything else or they will stick to the top/bottom of the cup during blending and you will not get them mixed in. This is one reason I add the orange juice as the first item, it keeps the seeds from being on the very bottom.
  • Remember that flax seeds must be ground for our bodies to absorb all of the good stuff from them, otherwise they just go straight through.

  • According to the internet women over 50 need at LEAST 48 g of protein per day!
  • According to my reading on the internet you need to take in most of your protein first thing in the morning. But again up to you weather you drink this in the morning or the evening.
  • AND, YES, Mine comes out an ugly grayish-brown-purple color, but it tastes so good. Someday when I remember I will put up a picture of mine...
