Turtle Cake

Starting from a basic chocolate cake mix, this becomes a sweet and sticky dessert that's a favourite with the children. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream or just as it is.
Ingredients
- chocolate cake mix plus ingredients required to prepare it. shopping list
- 14 oz pkg caramels shopping list
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk shopping list
- 3/4 cup melted margarine shopping list
- 2 cups walnuts shopping list
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips shopping list
- chocolate frosting shopping list
How to make it
- Prepare chocolate cake mix using package directions.
- Pour 1/2 batter into 9x13 pan.
- Bake at 350 F for 10-15 minutes.
- Melt caramels and mix with margarine and evaporated milk.
- Pour over baked cake layer.
- Sprinkle with walnuts and chocolate chips.
- Pour remaining cake batter over top.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Let cool completely and frost with chocolate frosting.
