- cake batter: shopping list
- 150 g (1 1/3 stick) butter shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 3 dl (1 1/4 cup) sugar shopping list
- 3 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 2 tsp vanilla sugar or 1 tsp vanilla extract shopping list
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder shopping list
- 1 1/2 dl (2/3 cup) milk shopping list
- 4 1/2 dl (2 cups) flour shopping list
- Icing: shopping list
- 50 g (1/2 stick) butter shopping list
- 3 tbsp cold coffee shopping list
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder shopping list
- 2 tsp vanilla sugar or 1 tsp vanilla extract shopping list
- 3 1/2 dl (1 1/2 cup) icing sugar shopping list
- Grated coconut or sprinkles (optional) shopping list
How to make it
- To make the cake: Heat the oven to 225 C / 425 F / Gas mark 7
- Melt the butter and let it cool slightly.
- Beat the eggs and sugar until airy and white
- Beat in the baking powder, vanilla and cocoa
- Add the flour, milk and butter and stir to a smooth batter
- Grease a pan, about 40*32 cm (15*12 inches)
- Pour the batter in the pan, smooth the surface and bake at the bottom of the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes
- To make the icing: Melt the butter
- Stir in the coffee, cocoa, vanilla and icing sugar to make a smooth cream
- Spread over the cooled cake and sprinkle with grated coconut or colourful sprinkles if you like
- Cut into squares, how big is up to you!
