How to make it

  • Put first 3 ingredients in a large bowl
  • Put milk and sugar in a heavy saucepan
  • Bring to a rolling boil and cook rapidly
  • Stir vigorously for EXACTLY 9 MINUTES ( mixture scorches easily)
  • Pour over ingredients in bowl and mix well
  • Beat only until well blended
  • Stir in nuts and vanilla
  • Spread into a buttered 1x10x5 inch pan
  • Cool, score and let stand for 12 - 24 hours
  • Cut and wrap
  • makes 5 lbs.
