Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup butter AND 1/4 cup margarine OR 1/2 cup butter, at room temperature (slightly softened)
  • 1 scant cup flour
  • 1/2 cup blanched almonds
  • 1/2 tsp almond flavouring
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 TBSPS icing (confectioners' or powdered) sugar
  • Small dish of granulated sugar, for rolling

Directions
  1. Cream the butter and margarine together.
  2. Add the scant cup flour and icing sugar; mix well with a wooden spoon.
  3. Blend in the rest of the ingredients.
  4. Shape into long thin fingers, or sylinders, about 2.5 - 3 inches long, and 1-inch thick.
  5. Place on slightly greased baking sheet and bake in preheated 300 F oven for about 20 minutes, depending on the siae of the cookies, or until turning ever-so-slightly golden.
  6. Cool a few minutes, then roll in granulated sugar while still hot.
  7. Allow to cool completely.
