Orange Ring

- 2 cups sifted flour shopping list
- 2 tablespoons sugar shopping list
- 3 tablespoons baking powder shopping list
- 3 teaspoons salt shopping list
- 1/4 cup shortening shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1/2 cup milk or orange juice shopping list
- Melted butter shopping list
- 2 tablespoons orange juice shopping list
- 2 cups powdered sugar shopping list
- 1 egg yolk shopping list
- 1/4 cup orange juice shopping list
How to make it
- Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together then cut or rub in shortening.
- Beat egg and milk then add to dry ingredients.
- Blend with a fork until dry ingredients are moistened.
- Turn dough out on lightly floured board then knead gently for 30 seconds.
- Roll out onto rectangular sheet 1/4” thick and brush with melted butter.
- Sprinkle with orange juice then roll up jelly roll fashion and cut into 1-1/2” slices.
- Place slices cut side down close together in a well buttered ring mold.
- Bake at 425 for 25 minutes.
- While still hot frost with orange icing.
- Serve hot.
- To make icing combine powdered sugar, egg yolk and orange juice together.
