How to make it

  • cream butter & sugar
  • add yolks 1 at a time
  • add essence
  • alternate sifted dry ingredients with liquid
  • pour 1/2 of batter in a greased 23 cm square baking pan
  • cover with filling and spread remaining batter and bake @ 180 for 30-35 mins
  • decorate with melted chocolate and sprinkle with coconut
  • filling:
  • beat egg whites until stiff add sugar
  • fold in coconut
  • 1

    thanks for the comment no it is not milk in south africa we call it dessicated coconut it is like grated fresh coconut which is dried i am sure it is the same as coconut flakes

    I'm getting a Kitchen Aid finally!! this is definitely going to be one of the first recipes I make with it. Great post, thanks so much for sharing.
    Now with the 1 1/2 cups of coconut, do you mean coconut milk? or coconut flakes? also what was number 11? Some also may want to know should they use unsweetened or not.. i am just going to use sweetented coconut milk, if that's in fact what your calling for and unsweetened coconut flakes.
