How to make it

  • Cream sugar, butter and flour; blend.
  • Remove ½ cupo f this mixture and reserve.
  • Add soda to milk, then to sugar – flour mixture along with egg, cinnamon, cloves,utmeg and vanilla; mix well. Add dates and nuts.
  • Put in greased pan and sprinkle reserved sugar – butter – flourmixture over hte topo f batter.
  • This is served as a frosting and not other is necessary. Bake at preheated oven, 375 F. for 30 – 35 minutes.
