Ingredients
  • one grated coconut
  • 9 eggs separated
  • 1 lb sugar
  • 1 cup blanched almonds

Directions
  1. Grate one cocoanut, nine yolks, one pound of sugar, one cup of blanched almonds.
  2. Boil sugar and grated cocoanut till sugar threads, take from fire: add beaten yolks and beat for about twenty minutes.
  3. Put almonds on top and then run into a hot oven till brown on top. Serve with pound cake.

You really did say "grate one cocoanut"? I read that line twice, just to be sure.
