This recipe has been around the block so many times it makes my head spin. It has been passed down from Grandmas to daughters, Aunties, friends to neighbors and so on and so forth...

Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1-1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1-1/2 Tbsps. bourbon
  • 2-1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 (8 oz.) pkgs. pitted dates, chopped
  • 1 cup pecans/walnuts, chopped
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. candied pineapple, chopped
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. candied cherries, quartered
  • *The original recipe does not call for semi-sweet chocolate chips but occasionally I like to add approximately 1/3 cup of them.

Directions
  1. Cream butter and sugar.
  2. Add eggs and beat well, followed by bourbon and beat again.
  3. Add dry ingredients and mix well.
  4. Add everything else.
  5. Drop on lightly greased cookie sheet.
  6. *I use a teaspoon.
  7. Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 12-14 minutes.
  8. Note: It depends on the size of the cookie when it comes to how many this recipe makes.
