Nutty Sweet Twists

- 1 can evaporated milk or 1 2/3 cups milk shopping list
- 1 tbsp lemon juice shopping list
- 1/2 cup raisins shopping list
- 3 tbsp sugar shopping list
- 2 tbsp butter or margarine shopping list
- 3 to 3 14 ccups flour shopping list
- 1 pkg active dry yeast shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 2 tbsp butter or margarine, softened or melted shopping list
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar shopping list
- 1/3 cup finely chopped nuts shopping list
- 2 tsp cinnamon shopping list
How to make it
- Warm milk and lemon juice in a small saucepan. Add raisins, sugar, ad 2 tbsp butter
- Combine 2 cups flour, yeast, salt, and baking soda in a large mixer bowl. Stir in milk mixture and egg; beat until smooth.
- Turn out onto a flured surface; continue to work in flour until dugh can be kneaded. Knead until smooth and elastic but still soft (about 5 minutes). Let dough rest 5 minutes.
- Roll dough into a 24 x 12 inch rectangle about 3/8 inchthick Spread or bursh with 2 tbsp of melted butter. Sprinkle with a mixgure of brown sugar, nutgs, and cinnamon. Fold in half lengthwise, forming a 24 x 6 inch rectangle. Cut into 1 inch strips. For each rll, hold both ends of strip and twist. Plae on greased baking sheet. (if shorter rolls are desired, cut twists in half
- Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes
- Makes 2 dozen long twists or 4 dozen short twists
