Chocolate Hazelnut Smooches Recipe
I found this recipe on Gaida DeLauerentis' section of the food network website, and I've made them several times, with variations each time. I've used the revisions with what was agreed are the best version! Enjoy.

Ingredients
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. Nutella
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. demerra sugar (for rolling)
  • 36 - 40 unwrapped hersheys kisses with almonds

Directions
  1. Cream butter and nutella with white and brown sugars.
  2. Add in egg and vanilla, beat well
  3. Stir in dry ingredients until mixed.
  4. Shape into walnut sized balls, and roll in the demerra sugar.
  5. Bake at 375ยบ for 8 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven, press a kiss into the middle of each cookie, and return to the oven for an additional 3 minutes.
  7. Cool and enjoy

Sounds interesting! What is demerra sugar and where would I find it? This does sound good. Jett


Hi Jenn,
Demerra sugar is a granulated brown sugar, that I find in the baking aisle of my grocery store. It's also called sugar in the raw, and if you can't find it any coarse sugar would work. I love the color and crunch of the demerra, though.
