Deep Fried Asparagus  Or Okra  Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 pound fresh asparagus
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 Tbs hot sauce ( or as desired )
  • 1 1/2 cup self rsing cornmeal mix
  • 2 Tbs Cajun seasoning
  • Vegetable oil to fry
  • Mustard Sauce
  • 2/3 cup sour cream
  • 3 Tbs creole mustard ( or use coarse grain )
  • 1 1/2 tsp dry ranch dressing mix
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp onion pwder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt or to taste
  • pepper to taste

Directions
  1. Snap off tough ends of asparagus and rinse .
  2. Do not dry off.
  3. Place flour in dish and drege asparagus in flour
  4. Whisk together buttermilk, egg and hot sauce.
  5. In another dish combine cornmeal and Cajun seasoning .
  6. Dip asparagus in buttermilk mixture and then into cornmeal mixture.
  7. Fry in 2 inches of hot oil at 360 F 4 to 5 minutes or golden.
  8. Drain on Toweling paper.
  9. Serve with mustard sauce.
  10. Combine all mustard sauce ingredients.

I love okra fried...I've never thought of frying asparagus. Maybe because I'm not a big asparagus fan. Thanks for sharing! Jett
