How to make it

  • Cream butter with 1 cup of sugar
  • Sift flour and baking powder
  • Add flour mixture alternately with milk to the creamed butter mixture.
  • Beat until smooth.
  • Pour into a greased and floured baking dish.
  • Mix cherries with other cup of sugar and add the cup of hot water.
  • Pour mixture over cake batter.
  • Bake in a preheated 350F oven about 45 minutes or set
  • Serve warm with cream ( fresh or whipped ) or with ice cream
