How to make it

  • My Grandfather used to take his thumb nail and run it across the skin of the watermelon. The easer the skin peals back and if it peals back in one long line the riper the melon is. I can’t thump them and tell the difference between the thumps This works every time, especially with a seeded watermelon.

Yes I read your recipe on finding the perfect watermelon, still don't know if you run the fingernail forward or what? Can you put up a pic of how it is down? JJ

Hmmm, using the back of the nail or using the nail going forward to scrape the skin. I totally love watermelon.

What can I say, it works very well. My sister worked for Safeway for years in the produce section and was very unhappy that I pick up this trick.
