This is a trifle recipe made with bananas. If you want to skip the homemade custard step then just use 2 large boxes of Jello vanilla pudding. I prefer the old-fashioned method though.

Ingredients
- 1 12 oz. box vanilla wafers or lady fingers
- 3 ripe but not too ripe bananas, sliced
- 1-1/2 cups sugar
- 4 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 3 - 4 eggs, whisked
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 8 cups milk - I prefer homogenized
- 1 Tbsp. pure vanilla extract
- Garnish: Sugar cinnamon for sprinkling on top and fresh berries when in season.
Directions
- Layer vanilla wafers then sliced bananas, vanilla wafers and sliced bananas in a large serving or trifle bowl.
- Blend all other ingredients in a large heavy sauce pan.
- Whisk well as the pudding will become lumpy if you don't.
- Over medium-low heat, cook until mixture thickens.
- When hot and thick pour over layered vanilla wafers and bananas.
- Place in the refrigerator and cool for at least 1 hour.
- I like to garnish the top with sugared cinnamon.
- Note: I have also prepared this dessert by using Jello Vanilla pudding and pie filling and adding 2 cups of Cool Whip to it.
- Either way this is a delicious dessert!

I notice you have several banana recipes...have you seen Paula Deen's Not Yo Mama's Banana pudding recipe? Check it out...I think I posted it. Last time I made it I use Pepperidge Farm's chocolate chessman (shortbread) cookies. It was a big hit with the family. (I'm not bragging...it's Paula's recipe.)
