New Oreleans Oyster Poboy Recipe
This is the traditional New Orleans Oyster Poboy or Oyster Loaf. New Orleans French Bread is crusty. Shredded cabbage is sometimes used instead of lettuce.

Ingredients
  • 12 inch piece of crusty French Bread, toasted
  • Mayonnaise
  • Lemon
  • Fresh Fried Oysters (see recipe)
  • Lettuce or cabbage, shredded
  • Tomato, sliced
  • Cocktail sauce if desired. See Note:

Directions
  1. Split 12 inch crispy French Bread
  2. Lightly toast
  3. Slater Mayonnaise on both sides
  4. Top with fried Oysters (see recipe)
  5. Squeeze lemon juice over oysters.
  6. Top with shredded letuce and tomato.
  7. Note: Some prefer a red cocktail
  8. sauce with ketchup, horseradish and drop of Worcestershire and squeeze of lemon.
