It is true because if you think about it, acid breaks down tissue -- we use acids to tenderize meat, like lime and lemon and vinegars. Ascorbic acid, which is what is in pineapple, is very hard on tissue. I am case in point because I am one of those people whose gums are always raw and sore after eating fresh pineapple because my tissue reacts SO aversely (or maybe not aversely if the purpose wasa to marinate me!) So yes, your midwife is a pretty smart cookie! Better for the teethers without the chocolate though! X0

What a COOL idea. Wish I had known this for my babes when they were teething. Too late now...39,36 and 34 now. Grin! But not too late for any new grandbabies that may bless my life (have 5 alread but would always welcome more!)
Thanks for sharing a wonderful idea from your midwife. Cheers! DottieT
