Manila Hotel Julep

- 4 oz bourbon or Rye shopping list
- 6 Springs mint shopping list
- 1 teaspoons Barbados rum shopping list
- 1/2 Tablespoon sugar shopping list
- 2 Tablespoons water shopping list
How to make it
- In a prechilled glass, disolve sugar into the water
- Add 2 springs of mint, and muddle (crush with a muddler stick, and mash up with sugar/water)
- Pack 1/3 of the glass with shaved ice (helps dilute, as one sips)
- Add 2 more sprigs of mint
- Pack in 1/3 more ice into glass
- Pack in 2 more sprigs of mint
- Pack in last 1/3 more shaved ice into glass
- (you have LOADS of ice/mint and the sugar water)
- Add Bourbon or Rye (should fill in the nooks and cranies in the ice)
- This will also dilute the burbon quickly as it cools
- Pour the Rum in last and let it slowly work its way into the drink
- Garnish with more mint, and a spear of fresh ripe pinapple.
- Sit.. relax.. and slowly sip this by the pool, on a hot summer day.
- For sure, you wont need many of these.. its something you drink SLOW, relaxing, and chatting with friends.
- The time taken making this also will provide time to chat with friends while making them such a "special" drink... what friend would not be thrilled at teh effort you just went thru for them?!
