This list I found in " The American Heritage Cookbook and Illustrated History of American Eating & Drinking" copyright 1964. Thought you might find it interesting.

- A party recently left Joe's store at Morman Bar for the Valley,and a friend of the "Star" furnishes the following statistics-- showing the amount of " the necessaries of life" which is required for an eight days trip in the mountains: shopping list

- 7 lbs cheese. shopping list
- 2 bottles brandy, (4th proof.) shopping list
- 1 bottle pepper. shopping list
- 5 gallons whisky. shopping list
- 4 bottles whisky (old bourbon.) shopping list
- 1 small keg whisky. shopping list
- 1 bottle of cocktails, (designed for a "starter.") shopping list
