Ingredients
  • 1/2 lime
  • 1 dash of Angostura bitters
  • 1 dash of simple sugar syrup (see previous recipes of mine)
  • 1 dash Herbsaint (or Pernod.. ideally Absynthe if you can get it)
  • 2 oz Rum (St. James recommended)

Directions
  1. Squeeze lime into a 14oz chimnet glass full of shaved ice
  2. Shaved ice provides LOTS of surface area, and melts fast.
  3. Add remaining ingredients
  4. Swizzle till uniform, and well diluted
  5. Decorate with spend lime shell, fresh mint, and a long stir stick

Thanks for the swizzle lesson....Learn something new everyday...:)


One will notice that MANY classic old school drinks dont have much mixer... but rather LOADS of shaved or cracked ice. Back in the day, one got a strong drink.. and you sipped it to allow the ice to dilute it, and mingle the flavours.. (unlike today, where you get a plastic cup, with some powdered bar mix, and vodka,.. then slam it down)
