Crispy sweet topped fruity dessert you can make with fresh or canned fruit and serve with ice cream, cream or milk or just by itself, nice and warm..YUMM

Ingredients
  • 3 - 4 Cups of fresh or canned fruit of choice; apples, pears, peaches, strawberries, blueberries, rhubarb, or a combination of fruits of your choice
  • 1/4 Cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 Cup All purpose flour
  • 3/4 Cup White or brown sugar
  • 1/4 Tsp salt
  • 1/4 Tsp Cinnamon (optional depending on fruit chosen)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/3 Cup melted butter or margarine

Directions
  1. Grease large baking dish/casserole.
  2. Peel, core, or hull etc chosen fruit and mix with 1/4 cup brown sugar in baking dish and set aside.
  3. Mix flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon and set aside.
  4. Beat egg and mix with flour mixture and spread over top of fruit in baking dish.
  5. Melt enough butter to measure 1/3 cup and pour over fruit and flour mixture in baking dish.
  6. Bake in 375 degree oven for 45 minutes or until lightly browned.
  7. Serve warm.

Hi Prell and Lillian, It is kinda like but not...the topping is sweet and crunchy rather than crumbly and soft..does that make sense??


Hey Lobster! We call this a fruit crumble in the UK. A cobbler to use is fruit topped with sweet pastry like biscuits or a savory stew topped with herb pastry like biscuits. I love all these differences!
