Ingredients
  • When I was a young girl I use to spend a great deal of time on my Grandparents farm.
  • They would give the members of our family beef.
  • When I started out to cook the best I knew how,I asked Grandad and Grandma for dinner.
  • Serving them beef steak and all the trimmings.
  • As we set down at the table and I watched my two favorite people
  • Saw and Saw on a peice of beef that could be used for boot leather, tears started to well up in my eyes.
  • Grandad looked up at me with a twinkle in his eye and said,
  • "Sis, you know how to fix that don't ya? and I wanting to please this mountain of a man I idealized,I said--"Sure,How??"
  • He leaned back in his chair and said:
  • "The Best Way to Cook An Old Steer is to toss it in a pot with a Horseshoe, and When the Horseshoe is Soft and Tender,You can Eat the Beef."
  • I miss that hard working, kind hearted Man.

Nice story.

Every male figure in my family that becomes has a Granchild is called Grandad, been that way for generations and will never change. I learned alot about cooking standing on a waterline that ran into my Granny's house just under her kitchen window or let me say I learned about the true meaning of cooking by watching her cook thru that window as she hummed and sang Amazing Grace. Grew up right next door to them watching her serve just good old southern meals to a big Texas family and making it look easy.Great story, takes me back!

With age comes wisdom, some actually use it! Your grandad sounds like a very wise and loving man. And YOU sound like a sweetheart, so glad you're a friend!
