Tavern Limoncello Recipe
A recipe from a tavern keeper who makes his own limoncello. The stuff freezes indefinately or up to 3 months in the refrigerator.

Ingredients
  • 12 whole lemons
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 lt bottle vodka

Directions
  1. Start to finish: up to 1 week
  2. Juice lemons and reserve juice.
  3. Quarter lemons and place in pitcher with sugar.
  4. Mix well
  5. Pour in vodka.
  6. Cover and refrigerate 24 hours.
  7. After a day, stir mixture and return to refrigerator.
  8. repeat for 4 days or up to a week.
  9. Strain and push and press on lemons to extract all liquids.
  10. Funnel mixture into the empty vodka bottle.
  11. Store in refrigerator or freeze.
  12. use as preferred for drinks, cocktails, dessert syrups etc.
