Chicken Paprikash Recipe
This is a good chicken dish that everyone likes

Ingredients
  • 1 whole chicken, 3-1/2 to 4 lbs wash and cut in serving sizes
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 1 garlic clove chopped very small
  • 1-1/2 tablespoon good quality paprika
  • I like to add Vegeta seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons lard or vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 3 cups chicken stock or 1/2 chicken stock and 1/2 water
  • 1 and 1/2 cups sour cream
  • juice of a lemon

Directions
  1. Choose a large fry pan with high sides that will hold all meat and a good amount of sauce
  2. If you dont have one use a large pot that is good to fry
  3. Heat oil or lard in pot or pan on medium low heat
  4. Add chopped onion and fry stirring from time to time until almost light golden
  5. Sprinkle the paprika and cook stirring occasionally for a couple of minutes
  6. Turn up heat to medium and add chicken pieces
  7. Gently fry the chicken to when it is lightly browned on both sides
  8. Turn the heat down to low and then toss in flour
  9. Cook for 3 minutes stirring well
  10. Pour in chicken stock stirring all the time
  11. Turn up heat and bring to a gentle boil
  12. Season with salt and ground black pepper to taste
  13. Simmer covered not all the way for about 50 minutes or until the chicken is tender
  14. A few minutes before serving take the pan from the heat and stir in the sour cream and lemon juice and stir well
  15. Serve with dumplings, potatoes or noodles and a fresh cucumber salat
