  • Mix:
  • 3 T. butter, melted
  • ¾ c. brown sugar
  • 1 T. cinnamon
  • Set aside.
  • 1 ¾ c. flour
  • 3 t. baking powder
  • ½ t. salt
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 1 c. milk
  • ½ t. vanilla
  • 1 egg

Directions
  1. Mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together. Cut in shortening; add eggs and mix. Blend milk and vanilla and add to flour mixture. Mix until just moistened, but no lumps. Put into greased 9”x9” pan and drop the cinnamon mix on top in clumps. The clumps should sink into the batter some…occasionally all the way to the bottom. The cinnamon mix doesn’t need to cover the entire cake….but should be splattered throughout. I made the mistake of sprinkling the cinnamon mix over the entire cake, instead of literally throwing it by the clumpful…doesn’t taste the same if sprinkled. Bake at 375° 30-35 minutes.
  2. As you may have guessed…I always double this recipe and bake in a 9”x13” pan.
