Slow Cooker Chowder Recipe
There is a chill outside and the leaves are swirling around. It is soup season! This is an easy-throw-together recipe and you can make all kinds of addditions or substitutions, see the note at the end.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground turkey, browned and drained
  • 5 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 carrots, peeled and diced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 1 16-ounce package frozen corn
  • 1 12-ounce can evaporated milk
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 pinch nutmeg

Directions
  1. Put all ingredients in slow cooker.
  2. I don't have times since I use a little Nesco and it cooks hot, so it was at 150* and done in about 2 hours.
  3. I would guess on low 6-8 hours, medium 4-5 hours, high 2 hours.
  4. Ideas for variations, either add or substitute:
  5. ground beef
  6. beef stew meat
  7. ham
  8. bacon
  9. celery
  10. mixed veggies
  11. broccoli
  12. change the broth: beef, vegetable
  13. different spices: chili powder, Italian seasoning, parsley, blends, etc.
  14. add cheese near the end of cooking
