How to make it

  • In saucepan combine apricots and water.
  • Bring to boiling,reduce heat,cover and simmer about 15 minutes or until fruit has absorbed as much water as possible.
  • Cool.
  • Combine fruit mixture and sugar.
  • Pour into 1/2 Gallon screw-top glass jar.
  • Add vodka,brandy,cinnamon stick,and cardamom seed.
  • Cover tightly and shake well.
  • Let stand at room temperature for 2 weeks to ripen and ferment.
  • Inverting jar once each day to completely dissolve suger and marry flavors.
  • Strain through cheescloth into a crystal decanter.
  • Reserve apricots to spoon over ice cream,or pound cake.
  • Cover the aperitif and store in cool place.
  • Serve the aperitif chilled in Crystal Cordial glasses.
  • Note: a drink to take before a meal to stimulate the appetite.
