Something about cabbage and kielbasa that warms my soul. Another great comfort food for a cold winter eve. Not a soup, more like a stew, all that's needed to complete the meal is a slice of crusty bread

Ingredients
  • 1 ring kielbasa sliced in 1/4" rounds
  • 1 ring coarse bologna sliced in 1/3" rounds
  • 1 med head of cabbage, core and cut into bit sized piece (don't take a lot of time)
  • 1 -32 oz can of whole tomatoes
  • 1 T flour whisked into 1 c cold water
  • 1 T bacon dripping or olive oil
  • 1 teas hot sauce (like Frank's)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions
  1. Heat the bacon dripping or oil in a dutch oven (large, heavy pan)
  2. Add the meat and fry until it starts to get crispy
  3. Add the cabbage and cook until the cabbage starts to wilt
  4. Add the tomatoes, crushing each one by hand as you add it.
  5. Add the juice from the tomatoes
  6. Add the flour water mixture
  7. Add the hot sauce
  8. Salt and pepper to taste
  9. Simmer until the cabbage is very tender and the sauce thickens. You may have to add more water.
  10. Serve with bread, butter, and additional hot sauce

I agree with you my friend. Sausage and cabbage is almost unbeatable. Greatness and a high 5.


I don't think I have ever tasted a stew or soup with bologna. I have to try this because I like everything thats in there.Sounds delicious.
