Next Project??? Soup & Biscuits

  • lovebreezy 10 years ago
It seems that many of us are in agreement that the Biscuit and Soup threads (BS) really aren't serving the original intended purpose so perhaps it's time we phased them out.
    Biscuit Thread: Biscuit Threads
I am the one who started the biscuit thread thinking that if someone wanted to make biscuits they could just go there, where they would be all together with their review and pick one. I always thought that each recipe would have their own IMI review though, not just in the biscuit thread.
Soup Threads: Soup Again Soup Again Ii Soup Again Iii
Points started the Soup threads and said this in the IMI group (Meatball Soup): "I think I agree with the usefulness of the soup again thread. At first it was a good thing grouping the soup recipes together as I was making them. But now I believe it is getting to large and unweildy to be useful. Especially when searching for a made recipe since I don't know of an easy way to peruse through it. It has become tedious.
Would not hurt my feelings at all if someone were to go through and make sure the recipes are posted in the IMI group then delete the soup again strings."

This is my suggestion which will be another big project for those who wish to participate:
    1. Go through these threads and look for all recipes that are mentioned/linked.
    2. Post a list of those recipes in the form of 4 new threads here in DML for the 4 IMI threads.
    3. If a recipe is listed/mentioned/reviewed more that one time in its BS thread a note should be made of that.
    4. Whomever started the original 4 DML threads should make a note on the list as each recipe's comments are transferred. Maybe just adding "complete" next to it. I think that would be better than just deleting the recipe name but it's just a suggestion.

    Then for each recipe:
    1. Check to see if there is already an existing IMI review. If it starts with a letter (S-Z) that is not fully complete on the Beta Reviews List 12 3 13, feel free to ask me to look it up.
    2. If so, copy and paste any pertinent comments/reviews about that particular recipe from the BS into the IMI review. I suggest saying something like "These comments were originally posted in a separate thread that no longer exist":
    3. If not, start a new IMI review thread then copy and paste any pertinent comments/reviews about that particular recipe from the BS into the IMI review. I suggest saying something like "These comments were originally posted in a separate thread that no longer exist": You can even download and upload an applicable photo(s) into the new thread.
    4. Make a comment in its DML thread that the recipe comments from BS have been moved (copy & pasted).
    5. Double check that the recipe may be reviewed more than one time in the BS.

Big project, like I said and perhaps we can start with just the biscuit thread to see how it will work. It should be easier as I don't think any of the recipes mentioned will need a new IMI thread started. So, ah, what do you all think? I'm just glad I never started that Bean thread that I had been gathering information for. :-)

It is a very big project, LB. In fact it is huge! I think I need some time to think about it. Just in case it would discombobulate things even more. LOL I am pleased you didn't start a Bean thread as well:) At the moment, I am still working on finding missing links for recipe and reviews etc.

The more I ponder on this one. The more I would like to just see an alphabetized list of the Soup threads in DML and have the name of the person who posted it and who reviewed it beside that link. That would give me a better idea of how I would be able to search it if I made it. The other idea I was thinking about was possibly creating another group for it called soups? LOL I am still thinking perhaps, I might just start a thread to work on in here and see what people think about it. If it might help them or not I don't know? Sort of along this line.
What do you think about that?
    Soup Again
Alphabetized to condense it a bit more.
