Creamy Cauliflower

    Recipe: Creamy Cauliflower
    From: Bikerfamily
    Date: 11/24/17

This is so rich and good that you would never guess it’s easy to make. The mayo, sour cream, and cheese come together very well. It was like having cauliflower with a baked potato topping. Love the Dijon mustard flavor! I think Dijon always adds a touch of elegance to any dish. The recipe indicated the lemon juice was optional. Since I’m not big on lemon, I only used ½ tablespoon. Just enough to give it a hint, but not overpower. If you added the full amount, it would change the flavor. I’m guessing more towards a Hollandaise sauce. Next time I will up the lemon juice and see what I get.

The Photo: This is a photo of the leftovers. I made this for Thanksgiving and garnished it with bacon. I wasn’t able to get a photo when it was fresh out of the oven and the sauce was perfectly melted over the top.

Thank you, Cheryl! If you've never had cauliflower before, this would be an excellent "first time" recipe. I grew up eating cauliflower, but it was always served with a cheese sauce. I can eat it plain, but I really like it with cheese or some kind of sauce.

Thank you, Bakerme! I didn't realize how many people do not like cauliflower until I took this for Thanksgiving. It's not a vegetable many have tried and they are not willing to try it. My hubby said they never had cauliflower when he was growing up. I think that makes a big difference. Hubby eats it and likes it. He calls it the white broccoli. lol! I honestly could not tell you where I found the trivet. I've had it for a long time. I'm always wandering down the kitchen isles at stores looking for new things.

Thank you, LindaLMT! I agree, it is indulgent. Something about Dijon always makes a dish come off as rich and elegant.

Thank you, Good4U! I wasn't planning on posting the photo to the recipe. It doesn't do it justice. These are day old leftovers that were transferred from different bowls several times before getting reheated. If you saw the pan when it came out of the oven with the "creamy" sauce melted all over the top, you would see these look dry by comparison. I'll get another photo the next time I make it.

I think the photo is definitely worth posting on the recipe DIZ!! It's beautiful plus it's better than leaving the recipe blank for who knows how long. This sound so creamy and delicious! I love cauliflower and so does my family surprisingly! Can't wait to try this :)

I think you should absolutely post your photo to the recipe page, DIZ! I need some pretty trivets, so will keep my eye open for something that looks like yours. I love wandering the housewares/kitchen sections of stores and they're the first aisles I make a beeline for.

I finally added a better photo to the recipe! It looks so good when it comes out of the oven. The photo above was day old leftovers that were reheated.

The new recipe pic looks great Diz! (I think both pictures look good though ;)
This recipe sounds so good! I love cauliflower but haven't bought it in quite some time. It gained huge popularity with all these new recipes (cauliflower crusts, stuffing, rice etc..) and I either couldn't find any on the shelves, or it was super duper expensive (like $8 a head!) I haven't checked the prices in some time so I will do that soon because I would love to make this! :)

Thank you, Cosmicmother! Cauliflower prices were really high here a couple of months ago. It was $7 for a tiny 4 - 5 inch head that didn't even look good. I wasn't about to buy it. Then I walked by the organic section and found beautiful giant heads of cauliflower for $5. Now I'm starting to price compare and sometimes find organic produce to be the same price or even cheaper.

Beautiful picture DIZ!! I don't think the price of our cauliflower is that high yet, but I'm sure it will get there :\ I'll have to start comparing organic with regular to see the price difference, now I'm curious!!

My flyer has cauliflower for $4 dollars a head ($3 usd). I'll have to check organic prices and compare too!
Points, you could make a killing and resell it over here, Lol...
I bet the prices are higher around the holidays. I'm sure by Easter it will go up...

Dish is in the oven. Could have used a smaller dish. Didn't cut the florets smaller than how they came off the head. Used Miracle Whip, so all you Miracle Whip haters just give it a break! Used white sharp cheddar to blend in. Easy enough to prepare. See you in a few.

Very tasty. Could have salted the florets a little more before putting on the sauce. But nice the way it is. Been a while since I've had Cauliflower. Usually just steam it then adding salt, pepper, and vinegar at serving. I like Broccoli a little better. Maybe this recipe would adapt to Broccoli.

Hi, Pointsevenout! My mother ALWAYS used Miracle Whip instead of mayo. :) Everyone raved over her potato salad. I'm like you and really like broccoli. Seems like I have seen similar recipes using this type of sauce on broccoli and other vegetables. Pinterest maybe??
