A Fire on Friday.....

Good Morning Everybody!!!! It`s VERY chilly today. -22C/-7F at the moment. Brrrrrrr! We don`t often put a fire on in the morning but we will today!

I`d invited my girlfriend Diane out for lunch and a Hot Tub today and she just sent me a message to say she didn`t feeling like going for a hot tub in the freezing cold and she`d prefer to sit by our fire instead. LOLOL. I don`t blame her. You should see the turkeys, the poor things!!!! They`ve got their feet and head tucked in to their bodies trying to keep warm.

I`m going to make
Potato Chip Sandwichs
for lunch and I had a jar of
Curried Butternut Squash And Pear Soup
in the freezer that I`ve thawed and will serve along with.

I also have Dahlia`s
Sliders White Castle Style
in the freezer. Half of the recipe that I made a while ago and froze, and will serve those alongside potato salad for dinner tonight. A fun Friday night meal.

Our Sens Hockey Team played LA last night at 10:30 so we just PVR`d the game and are watching it now.

I need to do a quick sweep and dust before Diane arrives but nothing major. I`m going to make breakfast bagel sandwiches in a bit.

I'll say -7(f) is cold Janet. And if it's breezy it's even colder. Lunch sitting by the fire is much better sounding. I feel bad for the wildlife having to endure such frigid temperatures. Lunch sounds great, enjoy!

I need to run an errand this later this morning and will take LD with me for the ride. Then late afternoon I have a routine doctor appointment and we will go out for dinner after. Went grocery shopping yesterday after the gym and I was very pleased with myself that I didn't buy any junk. If I don't buy any junk then I don't have it to munch on and if I don't have it to munch on then all the better.

It's cool this morning (low 50sf) but nice. Clear blue skies and will be warming up in the afternoon.

I need to start working on my taxes. Pulling the paperwork together and making copies of what I'll be sending off to our CPA. I'm pretty organized so it's not bad, just need to make sure I get everything and double check my numbers. I need to wait for year end summaries and such to be mailed.

We are in between both of your temps. 33F, just above freezing. Cloudy and in between rain/sleet/snow areas. Sleet fell earlier but roads are not frozen yet. Now we are on the low end of +5 inches of snow but that could change in a heartbeat. The trash from last week that they missed was picked up...phew.

Daughter has to drive to work tonight in whatever falls....ice, sleet, snow, ???. Wayne and I are betting whether or not they close church. They are mostly in the snow rain ?? Area but are mostly older people and not too apt to drive on iffy roads. Me neither for that matter....ha ha!

Should be at the fire Dept to sit in for the elections on Sunday just in case someone braves the weather....Wayne will drive in snow and it is only five miles on the highway. Crossing fingers.

The guys are working on linen closet shelves. It is a slow process! The cabinet people are to call sometime today to see about the doors etc.

Drier is going off so it is laundry time again. See you later.

The house is clean and lunch is prepped. Diane should be pulling up any moment.

I agree with Janet … when in doubt of the weather stay home Karen. It's hard enough driving when the weather is bad but other people who do not respect the conditions tend to be more of a problem than the weather itself. How are you feeling today?

I cut my soap today and I have to say it looks better than I thought it would look. Now for the air to hit it for a few days to darken the part that has the fragrance in the batter. I'll take a picture in a few days. The scent is "ok". Nothing I would use again though.
I'll measure oils and get to work on my second batch over the weekend.

Linda, I am starting to have a small amount of pain from the one med but not enough to worry about and certainly not enough to take Tramadol! If Tylenol doesn't work on it I will either break down and take Tramadol or tough it out. So far not enough problem or severity to worry about. It might bother more tomorrow. I hear the last two rounds, a different med, are kind of rough but we shall see what we shall see. That will be in March so it is a long ways away.

I decided I like my wine color, stretchy, el cheapo turban look better than the caps some of the women wore to chemo. Tee hee. I ordered three different colors, very inexpensive.

You can find them on different sites - I like the TLC one. Most of the caps at WalMart are too small and hurt my head, and need to be a bit bigger to cover more for chemo-cover. I have a large scarf, nylon, with horses on it in red - white - blue color scheme, which I can wear inside but it is not exactly what is needed for going outdoors.

It is partly rain and partly snow now. His buddy will probably head for home in a bit. I hope we can just stay put. The garbage was picked up early / on time so that is done. Drier is unloaded. I could use a good nap for sure!

Had a good visit with my girlfriend and she enjoyed lunch and the fire. She loves to watch all the animals, birds, etc. in the yard when she`s here as she lives in town so it`s quite different scenery.

Rachel is hanging at the beach I Hawaii and it’s freezing here lol. One of the nice things that her student id gives free bus rides on public transportation to the beach.
They are doing a tour tomorrow that is very discounted for students can’t wait to see pictures. She got my care package today. The food situation is weird. We payed for the meal plan but it only has 14 meals per week? And that’s the most you can get? The dining halls are also only open at certain times. It I sent her some chips, cereal bars, protein. Bars and Nutella. She isn’t going to starve lol. It she acts like she might. Her roommate is native to Hawaii but only lives like 10 minutes away so she is always home. I like that kind of roommate. She shares a bathroom with two other girls but she still hasn’t met them which I find weird.
