Can't think of a 'T' word Tuesday!

Good Morning Everyone! It's a gray, dreary morning here in Ottawa. The freezing rain, at least at this point, doesn't look as bad as I was expecting. We have a very thin skiff of it on the front deck but it didn't coat the trees or anything.

Gonna stay hunkered down and inside today. Sens Game on this evening. :) Haven't decided on dinner yet.

Again Bren, I think it's very fun that you get yourself Christmas p.j.'s and a book each Christmas. Being an only child I used to buy myself a birthday present when I was in my teens and early '20's. :) I am familiar with that Wellington St. Home Hardware store. I'm sure I've mentioned to you that I managed the Home Hardware store on March Rd. in Kanata for over 20 years. I've loved Hardware stores ever since I was a little girl and I used to go in to them with my Dad. I loved the smell of them and how the aisles went on forever with all sorts of things to look at and touch.

Wow Linda on someone actually trying to pass themselves off as a realtor! Crazy! I'm going to make a batch of your
    Mia Cucina Italian Wedding Soup
    today! :) Love that recipe.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

    Haha, Love the T's ;)
Soup sounds fitting for a cold, dreary day. Enjoy the Sens game this evening! :)

I have to get some grocery's as I have almost nothing in the fridge. I'm thinking of making pasta primavera for dinner tonight and having a vegetarian meal.
Colter's b-day weekend went well. I made vegan/gluten free cupcakes and an ice-cream brownie cake. Pork chops and rice since his friend had to go off wheat, dairy and preservatives. Last night was his actual b-day, so I made the twice baked potatoes with bacon wrapped chicken breasts, he was happy! :)
I've been having ocular migraines this weekend. I went totally blind on Saturday, for about 2 hours then fuzzy tunnel vision for two days. This has happened to me a few times in the last 8 years. I've seen a neurologist and he gave me some drugs but I never took them again because of heart palpitations. It starts as a migraine, then the headache part goes away and the vision loss happens. Today is the first day I haven't had a headache since Thursday, so hopefully it's gone for good now!
We didn't get anything done in the kitchen this past weekend so we'll try our best to get as much done this weekend. We need extra wire to finish the LED lighting. And I still have to order the pulls and knobs for the new cupboards. Put in the lower cabinets, re-install the countertop and finish the backsplash and toe-kick on that side of the kitchen. Then it's just the finishing touches and it's done! :D

Have a great day everyone!! :)

All of Colter's birthday food sounds great Shona! Glad he was pleased! Oh my goodness on your migraines! :( I am so sorry to hear that. I'd be terrified if I went blind even for a minute. Take good care, and do go in to see someone if it returns!!!! Have you chosen what type of pulls and knobs you want for the cupboards?

Pete thinks I should see another doctor too, this one didn't want to give me an MRI because he was convinced by my symptoms that it was just ocular migraines. It is scary to lose your vision! It happened to me when I was driving Sophia to pre-school. I was at a red light, thank goodness, and this dark curtain went across my eyes. Thankfully that one only lasted for a minute or two and it was at one of the longest set of lights at a major intersection! So just as the curtain opened again the light changed green. Sometimes it comes and goes like that for a day or two, other times the curtain closes for 20-30 minutes. This one was the longest ever.
I should have said the cabinets we just purchased instead of new....lol..they're all new! I bought brushed nickel cup pulls for the drawers and brushed nickel knobs for the doors. I need two more knobs and 4 more pulls to finish it off. :)

    Chicken Satay sounds delicious! :)

Pete's absolutely right Shona. Losing your vision is not at all a normal occurrence. That is so scary that you could lost it at any time. Makes me shudder just to think of you driving when that happens. :( Poor you. I love brushed nickel finishes.

Cute name for the thread today, Janet. We just had a wee bit of freezing rain and it is all thawed out now. Den stayed home today just in case. Your dinner sounds just wonderful to me!
I grew up near the HHW on Wellington Street, Bren. All that area is my old stomping ground. I grew up on Sherwood Drive a couple of blocks from Holland Ave. Lol Christmas PJ's would be fun. I don't wear PJ's anymore. I just wear a long tee-shirt b/c I find it more comfortable now.

A Very Happy Belated Birthday to Colter, Shona! Sounds like he had a good one. OMG! I think I would be seeing another doctor or at least finding out if there are other drugs you can take for your migraines. Very Scary Stuff! My cousin had a stroke and lost 75% of his vision from it and I had never heard of that type of thing happening when someone has a stroke. PLEASE get it checked out again! Have you heard results from Pete's test yet?
I have spent a frustrating morning trying to uninstall and reinstall my Virus program. A good thing Den was here b/c he has more patience with stuff like that than I do. I am not sure what we are having for dinner. I have to figure out what we are having for lunch first.
    Wishing everyone a great day!

LOL @ the thread name Joce. I was desperate. :) LOL. Ai yi yi on computer problems. I had fooling around with that stuff. :( Good luck!

Change of dinner plans. The one ingredient short fairy visited and rendered me without coriander so I'm now going to switch gears and turn the b/s chicken thighs into
    Oven Fried Panko Chicken

Good afternoon everyone. The ice was fairly thick on the cars but not much on the trees thankfully.
Well then, I'm glad that I mentioned but Christmas PJ's Janet. How fun that you bought yourself a birthday present...why didn't I think of that!!
The Panko chicken look great!! Do you think that it could be made with skinless chicken?
I just had a peek at Linda's soup recipe. How did I miss that one? I will have to wait a bit as Joe is a bit souped out but I'm really looking forward to it.
I do remember you mentioning that you were retired from Home Hardware. I love that store and the one Poltimore Que.
Happy belated Birthday to Colter and I'm so happy that his birthday weekend went well. I have to agree with the others Shona, you need to see a Dr. and have that resolved.
Sounds like your on the last lap with the kitchen. Where are the LED lights going. I too love brushed nickel finishes.
Sherwood is a beautiful street Joce, lucky you. When I lived there I was on Hinton, we are just about a mile from there now.
Ouch on the computer issues, I can't cope with anything going wrong and just ask my daughter over for dinner when I'm having issues.
I had my eye exam today and there was only a slight change from two years ago. Cataracts are 10-15 years away.
I've finally decided on what's for dinner. Salmon Burgers with Lemon Basil Mayo. I've had made them before and really enjoyed them. I'll serve them bunless, sides undetermined but will probably be a salad.

    Good Afternoon Everyone.

Freezing rain is the worse Janet. I don't envy it for you or Joce and best to just stay in. How cool you are making Italian Wedding Soup! Yum. Oven fried chicken is always a favorite and leftovers are equally as good.

Please go to another doctor Shona about your migraines and loosing vision. Insist on the MRI and let that conclude all is normal, not someone's opinion. Also when was the last time you had bloodwork done and blood pressure checked, etc.? No need to answer but explore everything.
That's nice your DS's birthday went well and celebrated not once but twice :)
The kitchen will get done in all good time.

Sorry you are having such a hard time with the technology Joce but I do understand and sympathize with your frustration.
When the phone was out, DH took the modem in and exchanged it thinking that might be the problem. Well, when he did that, everything running off the modem (WiFi) needed to be reset to it. Tried to print something yesterday and couldn't and I was having a heck of a time trying to set the printer to the WiFi. I was so frustrated I wanted to take the dang thing out to the street and smash it. My patience these days is running short.

We set a move date ... January 6th is the day the movers are scheduled to be here. Even though we haven't sold this place yet DH doesn't want to leave the other place empty yet we can't leave this place abandoned either. So lowering the price on the house tomorrow and every week after. If it's not sold by January 6th then it'll be just me moving with all the stuff. DH will come up for a few days with me, get things set up, meet the movers, etc. and then return here and live like a squatter until it's sold. This has been so trying on both our nerves and it seems nothing works in our favor. It all just sucks!

Just heading out for a hot tub but saw your question re the panko chicken Bren. I actually use b/s thighs in it and I LOVE it. That's great on your eye appointment. Do you mean you have cataracts that will need to be dealt with in the future? Are they a genetic thing? Your salmon burgers sound wonderful.

Be back in just a bit. Hi Linda! I'll answer yours when we're back in.

Did not know too that you were getting the icy weather Bren. YUK! I can deal with rain, I can deal with snow, but ice ... that's tough.
What do your Christmas PJs look like ... are they new pjs to wear at Christmas or are they Christmas/winter themed print pjs?
    Salmon burgers sound good!

That's great that you have a date set, Linda, it's one step closer to the end. I really, really hope that your house sells soon so you can start your new life off together.

Joce, Janet and I all live fairly close together Linda. Probably no longer than a two hour car drive so we get pretty much the same weather. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be outside today but still fairly slippery.
They're just new PJ's not Christmas themed. I've always liked an new pair for Christmas Eve. I crawl into them and watch A Christmas Carol every year.
Thanks Janet I'll save that one to try because we both love chicken and I have a lot in the freezer.
The Optometrist said that everyone will get them eventually. He took pic's of my eyes and said that mine are a ways off.

Good evening all. Hope all in the north are snuggled in warm for the night. I remember freezing rain when I lived in Michigan. Perhaps that's why I now live in Florida. I've lived here 35+ years now and can't imagine trying to drive in that now. But hey, I did it then. Used to go to the mountains in the winter though, just to get a dose of snow. But haven't been in years. However, it was a muggy warm day today which I really did not enjoy for being the end of November. Don't know if it was as mugging down your way Linda but it sure was up here.

Well, it's my cheese night so that is what hubs and I will be having. Boys are not a fan (they love the full blown fondue but not just cheese, lol) so they usually get a special treat too on Tuesdays. Either a sub from their favorite place or fast food. Not that fast food is "a treat" but kind of, in a way, as we really don't eat to much fast food anymore. Except, like Janet, I love me a McDonalds brekkie from time to time!

Probably won't get back tonight so will offer up my..........Sleep Sweet.............as always.........

    Have a good night all!

Hi Joce, nope, no word yet on Pete's test results. Maybe tomorrow? He's fairly confident he passed though. :)
Hi Bren, the LED strip lights are for under the cabinets. We left a 1-2"gap on top of the cabinets to light up too, hopefully we have enough lights for that! Funny about the PJ's, I always buy myself new slippers for xmas, and a book or two ;) That's great the eye doctor's can see all that stuff now a days. My mom is 66yrs old and just had cataract surgery today. She phoned me afterwards and said she can see better already, but has to keep a patch on it for 6 weeks.
Hi Linda, at least you have a plan set for moving! Pete and l had to live apart for year when we tried to sell our house in Nanaimo. It was hard, but had to be done. I wish you the best of luck selling it in time!!! :)
I haven't seen any kind of doctor since moving here 4 years ago. I've put everything off for so long, I really need to keep care of me! I'm always running the kids to doctors and such that I don't think about myself. I really need to see an eye doctor as I'm sure I need glasses too. Not to mention the countless tests I probably need for all kinds of things, so I will get that all done in the New Year!! ;)

Bren, the other things I do a bit differently with the Panko chicken recipe are that I don't use butter, I use Becel margarine. I don't brush it on the chicken pieces, I just melt it in a bowl in the microwave and then dip the chicken into it and then the panko. And I don't bake anything at 450F. I just go 375F. The cayenne gives the chicken a really nice 'heat'. :)

Congratulations on your move date Linda! That's exciting and gives you something to look forward to. Shall keep my fingers and toes crossed that your current house sells quickly and your DH does not need to live like a squatter. :) I don't blame you both for being frustrated. Hang in there. It'll all work on in the end. Just focus on your new home in the new location.

Wow on everyone getting cataracts at some point Bren. I didn't know that. At least they can be dealt with now.

Aw Kimmer, now you've got me craving cheese fondue again. :( Boo. Have a great night.

That's cool your Mom could see better right away pretty much after surgery Shona! Excellente. And YES by all means DO go to the Dr. asap and get all checked out. You do need to take care of you because if you're not there, who's going to take care of everybody else?

It was muggy and reached 80(f) here today Kimmer. Nothing wrong with McDonalds now and then, my guilty pleasure is a Filet-O-Fish sandwich stuffed with French fries and washed down with a chocolate or vanilla shake. Haven't had one in forever though.
That's great to hear you'll be taking care of you Shona come the New Year and doing what you need to do.

LOL Linda. I've never stuffed my Filet-o-fish with fries (never thought of it actually) but that is actually something I have always loved at McDonald's. I ordered that when I was just a kid and we got a McDonald's restaurant in our town and I've had a soft spot for them since, as well as a chocolate milk shake. I had that combo on the way home from the cottage when we were bringing Jim's Dad back to Ottawa not that long ago. LOLOLOL.

Tried a new cocktail recipe this evening. 1 1/2 cups prosecco, 1/2 cup Lemoncello, mix and then pour in two glasses that have 6 raspberries sitting in the bottom. It was nice but you'd only want one glass. It's a bit sweet. Don't think I'd make it again. Am always looking for fun signature cocktail recipes, especially around the holidays.

Enjoy your cheese Kimmer. I think that I would prefer the freezing rain over humidity, humidity makes me grumpy.
Thanks for the info Shona. We debated putting in under the cabinets and went with it and I'm so glad that we did. I have one upper with glass doors and I'm trying to find a light system for inside the cabinet without hardwiring.
Take care of yourself please Shona. I neglected my health for years and it didn't turn out well.
Thank you Janet. I've left a note on the recipe with your changes. The cataracts info was news to me too.
Huh, my son's been putting fries in his burger for years and I've always frowned upon that. Who knew.

Linda sorry your having a tough time selling your house. I don't know if you believe in these things but it really has worked for people. You bury a small St. Joseph statue on the property you are trying to sell. You can probably google the details and the prayer. Good luck!
New job is going well, although I'm a little stressed my boss is going on vacation starting tomorrow for a week and there is so much going on lol. He has five projects going on just in the flipping portion of the business. Not to mention one that is complete and ready to list. That doesn't even take into account the property mgmt portion and the Real Estate agents I'm a little nervous. Lol but he was stressed out enough for the both of us so I just kept telling him everything will be fine. Wish me luck!
Getting out at four means I can cook dinner again. Last night I made stuffed peppers and tonight we had ravioli and garlic bread.

LOL Laurie. That's totally worth a shot isn't it. I've heard of that before and now can't remember where. Good luck for you this upcoming week. You'll do MARVELOUS darling. :) YUM big time on ravioli and garlic bread.

Stuffing fries in sandwiches is big on college campuses too Bren, especially when grabbing something to go off the food trucks. Makes for "easy" eating on the run.
