Feeling Friday

Morning!! I woke up with a crick in my neck and it is killing me. I have 3 pillows that I use at night, I like to surround myself with them lol. Anyway, I've been using them for years and they are quite lumpy now and none of them are much comfortable anymore, so I think it's time to get a few new ones. Michael has a foam one that was really expensive, but it's way too thick. Plus I don't think I'll like think I'll like the foam, even if I got a slimmer one. I like big fluffy, squishy pillows. But who know, firmer might be what I need for my neck?

Going to work some more on Bri's B-day party stuff today, making a trip to Hobby Lobby to pick up a few more things I thought of, plus Caiden and Michael have been working on a derby car for Cub Scouts and it's needs a weight or something that I'm supposed to pick up for him there. Michael is back on nights now :( :( (I REALLY hate it when he works nights) and the race is at 8:30a tomorrow morning so he will miss it, which sucks since they have been working so hard on the car. But I'll take Caiden and get lot's of pictures for him :)

Will have to dig through the freezer and see what we have for dinner. Wishing everyone a great day!!

Pics. below of Lucy, the one that got left out the other day :)

    Good Morning Everyone!

Lucy is adorable Michelle! They all are. She looks like the smallest of them all but it could just be the picture.
Someone posted this link on Refugees but here it is just incase you don't see it. Thought it would be good for you.

I have a feeling it's going to be another "fun filled" day here. DH is already mad because people are scheduled to come in today. His baby sitter should be here shortly and that'll give me time to run out and get the gas tanks filled at Home Depot for the grill and then stop and the grocery store for a few fresh items. His nurse comes today to take his vitals and blood because he is on blood thinners. Then this afternoon he has OT and PT therapies. I just ignore his behavior and carry on. Will also be calling the realtor in SC and getting the ball rolling on that. I kept thinking/hoping in the back of mind that it might be a possibility but his road to recovery is going to be too long and since he has this stinkin attitude with receiving help there is no way I can do it all myself (move and take care of him at the same time). The house too will be too much. There is a basement and loft and I can't be thinking where he will be not to mention an outside that is greatly sloped.

Better get the day started. Will check in later.

Hi Linda! Lucy and Spot are probably close to the same size, although shaped differently. Spot is shorter and a little rounder and Lucy is long a skinny :)

I'm so sorry your DH is having some difficult days. Hopefully as time goes on everything will get easier, and better. So have you officially decided not to move?

Sorry to hear about your sore neck Michelle. They're very painful! I find it SO hard to buy pillows! Mine's getting a little flattened out in the middle so I was just talking about getting a new one myself. Costco has a White Sale going on but I 'squeezed' a few pillows and found them too soft. LOLOL. It reminds me of the old story of Goldilocks and the Three bears and trying to choose a suitable bed. :) I don't like the hard foam ones either although I've never bought one. I've bought a buckwheat pillow that was very thin and really weird. I've bought pillows that were too thick and that hurt my neck as it was at a steep angle. It's very tricky! Fun fun working on Bri's decorations! And that's so sweet Michael and Caiden are working on a Scout derby car. JIm did that with Benjamin too. When I worked at the Hardware store we had a Post Office outlet located within for quite a few years and the little boy scouts would often come and weigh their scout cars on the weigh scale to make sure they had it right. :) Cute pictures of Lucy!

Good luck with your day Linda! Good luck with calling the realtor in SC as well. I know it must be hard. As I mentioned before, just because you don't buy this house, it doesn't mean that you'll never buy one. Hang in there.

Not sure what to make for dinner this evening although I've been having a craving for sauerkraut. :) I may do a big house cleaning today.

Sorry to hear Cayce is sick again Kimmer. :(

Re: the discussion about a bit too much garlic in the Slow Cooker Turkey recipe. I'm a garlic monster and don't really even notice it. If a recipe calls for a clove I'll often add a heaping tsp. of minced garlic. I'm always adding more. :) So funny how we all have such different tastes eh!

I'm hearing you on the pillows ... The only way to test a pillow is to sleep on it for the night. The past year I must of bought 6 different pillows trying to find "the" one. The one I'm using now is from Bed, Bath, and Beyond and it's about as good as it's going to get (I think). It's some kind of memory foam and I believe it's suppose to stay cooler too ... it's not too hard, not too soft, not too thick, not too flat. Wish I could tell you what one it is but I looked and there are no tags or writing to note. The best pillows I ever had were my 2 down pillows but they are so old now and worn that the dog sleeps on them. Hope your neck feels better Michelle.

I keep hesitating to pull the plug on the house in SC because I'm equally as afraid to stay here in FL for much longer. Between the constant threat of hurricanes and flooding and damage it's also expensive. Everything is expensive ... home owners insurance, car insurance, our association fees ... We thought this state was suppose to be "retirement" friendly, what a joke it's been.

Turkey breast is in the crockpot and we'll have that tonight with a mixed vegetable side.

My "babysitter" was late today so I called the company and told them to not bother sending her. She was suppose to be here at 8:30 and at 8:45 I called the company. They called her cell and she was stuck in traffic which I don't want to hear because she was late last week too and I told them that. And since they couldn't determine what time she would arrive I told them to forget it and I didn't want to be charged anything, not even the less than 24 hour notice fee. They understood.
So I put DH in the car and took him to Home Depot with me and got the 2 gas tanks for the grilled swapped out. And of course he is happy because he won.

Mmmmm, that does sound good Janet. I wonder if I made it if I could get DH to eat it. He doesn't seem to be as "particular" as he was before. I'm starting to try different things ... hopefully it'll go in the right direction.

Do you find your pillow does actually stay cooler Linda? A friend of mine bought one and she says she doesn't notice any difference. You can pay outrageous prices for pillows. We tried down pillows once but Jim says the feathers poke him in the face through the pillowcase. LOL. Yum on the Slow Cooker Turkey. Lovely meal to wrap up the week. Sorry your person was late again. Very frustrating.

It starts off cooler but doesn't stay cool. Usually throughout the night I'll flip it but too DH likes warm fuzzy sheets so that doesn't help. I often buy separate cotton pillow cases for me but I'm not sure where they are so I need to buy more. I probably paid around $50 for the pillow which isn't bad considering.

I flip my pillow probably four times a night. LOL. Jim likes it warmer than I do as well but I just throw a bunch of the bedding off of me and leave one foot out and that seems to do the trick. :) $50 is reasonable for a good pillow.

Good afternoon everyone. Sorry about the crick in your neck Michelle, I've been have the same issue lately and decided to bite the bullet and bought a new one while at Costco today. That's unfortunate that Michael is back on nights, especially with the derby tomorrow. Lucy is very cute!!
Lol @ Goldilocks and pillows Janet, you are so right!! Thanks for the info about the buckwheat pillows, I've seen them at the mall and wondered if they would suite me. I never bought one as they looked skimpy. Enjoy the pork chops and kraut.
Re: the garlic. I think that mine was super potent as I'm like you, I usually add more than the recipe calls for.
It takes time to get a schedule up and running smoothly, Linda. We had that issue with MIL, people were late or didn't show. Once they figured out that we were watching the clock and reporting when things weren't working the agency put more effort into being on time and letting us know when someone wouldn't arrive on time. It sounds like your just not ready to put the SC house up for sale, I don't like to meddle but maybe put that one off for a few more weeks? You've had to make a lot of decisions lately that you hadn't planned on. Enjoy your turkey, we certainly did!!
I am shopped out. We did a Costco run and bought a lot of meat and fish then on to Super Store where we picked up a couple of roast beefs as they were on sale for 3.48 per pound. The the pet store for dog kibble for Annie.
The pillow is a gel infused memory foam that my daughter recommended. I bought one for our son for Christmas and he loves it. LOL, he said that if everyone slept on one of these the world would be a happy place.
Dinner is going to be easy as I'm exhausted. I picked up a chicken and will make a spinach salad to go with that.

Hi everyone. I'm in the same boat with the pillow search. I can't find one I like. I got the Bamboo one last year but it was way too firm. I thought I had a perfect one but now after a few months it's completely flat in the middle.
Tonight's dinner was the orange chicken from Trader Joe's over thin pasta. We haven't had it in a while so it was yummy. I've been exercising but my food intake is still bad lol.

Cute rat picture, Michelle. Ugh on the sore neck? Cool that Michael is helping Caiden with the derby car!

Sorry your DH is not a happy camper, Linda. The caretaker needs to leave fifteen minutes earlier if traffic is a concern, or arrange to arrive a bit later and stick to the schedule. I am not informed in this area, but aren't there companies / organizations that specialize in transportation for people with medical problems. Prayers continuing for you both.

Janet, I sleep warmer than Wayne, and usually end up tossing the blankets off....he usually adds extras! My feet are more comfy out from the covers! We bought a Sleep Easy bed, so he can adjust his section as he wants. I raise the head and leave half the bedding off.

Spinach salad and.chicken are always good, Bren. We went to Crow Creek for lunch and I finally got my taco salad I have been craving! Not hungry enough to have a regular meal for supper so ??? What to have.

John Deere brought the Gator and mowers back today from their yearly maintenance. Fritz will be happy, he likes his Gator rides.

    Ha e a good day!

    Hi all
It's been awhile since I have stopped in here but am trying to get back into the cooking I used to enjoy. I recall the cub scout cars too - Jason and Sean worked very hard on one and then recruited an uncle of mine who is a luthier to help with the final touches to get the weight exactly right and make it as smooth and friction free as possible.
Pillows are definitely hard to get right - I have one I really love and have taken to packing it in my suitcase when I have more than one or two nights away for work because without it my neck gets horribly sore.
Today was a Saturday here and we went for groceries so tonight will be porkchops on the grill and a side of peppers and onions sauteed with some seasonings - just not sure what seasonings. We're trying to keep from heating up the house because it hit 38 degrees here this afternoon with the humidity which is over 100 F. There is absolutely no wind so it feels like you are in a sauna unless you can get a fan going.
Cucumbers are our latest favourite because they are all over in the market - last week we had them stuffed with tuna salad and for a snack we clean out the seeds and put peanut butter in them. Probably have that again tonight while we watch TV.

    Welcome Bach Michelle B.
100 F is certainly no fun. A cold meal is definitely the way to go! Love tuna salad in the summer!
Battery is low so must go. Have. A nice day.
