Finally Finished Friday

Good morning. I will have to read through Thursday's thread. No time yesterday.

It was a busy day picking up the last two fields! Haying is done for the summer, we hope! We got about 360 bales. It is getting harder since our GS's and helpers are grown and gone. Wayne can't buck hay any more and his buddy's age is starting to slow him down. Getting older is not for sissies. Ha ha.

It is still beastly hot, yesterday it hit 96F with a heat index of 103. The humidity is high and there is no relief in sight. It is my least favorite time of year. Even Fritz didn't want to go far on his noon walk. He made it twenty feet from the porch and came right back inside!

Wayne goes in for his heart procedure next week. The outcome will give us an idea how much longer he can keep up the outdoor work, esp. haying. Hay is essential for the two horses, although at 24 & 25 years-old they are not going to be with us too many more years.

Mel and Mauser are laying on my lap. Trouble vacated earlier when Mel arrived. It is a musical cats scenario.

    Have a nice day!

    Good Morning Everyone.

Glad to hear the hay is all baled Karen. One good thing about not having rain is that it allowed for you to work the fields and get it done and then not have to worry about soaked hay and rot. Beastly hot is not pleasant ... I know and get tired of it real quick myself. I wish Wayne well with his procedure next week. Are you able to hire anyone to help bale or even share in the bounty? Not sure how much hay the horses need for themselves that then allows you to give up some in trade. Love them crazy cats!

DH has a follow up doctor appointment with his cardiologist this afternoon, no big deal, just on the "rotation" to be seen. Not sure yet of any other plans, it looks like rain again and when it looks like rain you just don't know how much and when.
Have had a low pressure headache/neck ache yesterday and today and my reasoning is too many carbs making the joints ache. Need to figure out some things to make ahead of time so I'm not reaching for the easy stuff. Pretzels seem to be my downfall lately.

We do shares with his buddy in return for helping. We like to have 400 bales in case of a severe winter, they usually eat about 300 unless the winter is long and severe. Most farmers put up round bales, but it requires special equipment that is super expensive, and they have a lot more livestock to feed. It is hard to find anyone to help, even tho the pay is good! Not many want to work, the world owes them a living. Our youngest GS can't work in the heat so he is no help.

Hoping the rain is light so you can visit with your DH!

Great to hear you have all the haying done, Karen. UGH on your heat! I hope everything goes well with Wayne's procedure next week. Try to keep cool. Lol even though you have two cats on your lap:)

I hope your headache gets better as the day goes by, Linda. I hope DH's appointment goes well. I have always been interested in hypnotism and often wondered if it would help with my pain and being able to sleep at night. Although I am not sure I would be able to be hypnotized. Who knows!

I feel for you, Janet. I hope your Mom snaps out of this and gets back on her feet soon. You have had SO much on your plate lately. Sending gentle HUGS))).

I hope you enjoyed your dinner last night, Kimmer. What did you end out having?

I hope Jersey's stitches come out easily today, Shona. How is your neck today?

    How are you doing, Laurie?

I didn't get to see Camden yesterday b/c Andrea and her were headed into the city for something so we made a date for next Wednesday afternoon. She said she would make sure Camden was up when I came, which will be really nice. I need to do some cleaning today and I have to get at my closet and start thinning out clothes I don't wear. Then I can send them to Sally Ann or CP (Cerebral Palsy). I called my next door neighbour yesterday afternoon to see how she has been doing and THREE hours later my ear and arm were ready to fall off! We had a good talk though which was good. Den will have rib eye steak and oven fries and I am not sure what I want for dinner at the moment.

    Wishing everyone a good day!

I'm hearing you on the work ethic of this country Karen ... perhaps if we didn't have so many government handouts people would work but why should they when they are being handed everything. If they work they compromise their handouts. Irks me to no end. Free housing, free utilities, free food, free medical, and on and on the list goes. Yet these people have cell phones, cable, internet, jewelry, their nails done, fancy hair, tattoos.

You should try hypnosis Joce. It can't hurt. It's like taking a really good nap. If you want to be hypnotized you can be ... you just need to "go with it". The first time or two you won't go under as deep but the more you do it the deeper you can get.
That's good you'll see Camden next week. I know the three hour calls!! LOL! My DH can't understand how women can stay on the phone and talk for hours.

It's thundering away at the moment. No rain yet but the skies are ready to give us something any moment.

That's great the haying is done Karen! Too bad you can't seem to find help with it. Do you get Seasonal workers/Temporary Foreign workers, that come into your area? Some might want a little job on the side here and there, (if you know any Farmers that have seasonal workers that is)
What kind of heart procedure is Wayne getting? I must have missed that! Is it a stent?
Lol at getting older is not for sissies!

Hi Linda, I hope your headache and neck pain goes away soon. Good luck with DH's appt today. :)

Hi Joce, lol at three hours of talking on the phone! Next time you might have to meet in person and have coffee ;) That's great you have a date to see Andrea and Camden next week. Good luck thinning out the closet today :)

Not much going on here, just having my morning coffee. My neck feels much better Joce, thanks. I have about 90% rotation back. I've been doing all my stretches and exercises everyday and hopefully once my back and shoulders get stronger I won't have as many problems. I can't believe how much muscle I have lost in the last 5 years. I need to eat more protein or something! ;)
The smoke advisory has finally been lifted! Though it still looks a tiny bit hazy out there, so I'll be careful. Hopefully after Jersey's appt I can take the dogs out for a long walk and get the kids out of the house too. I'll take my asthma inhaler as a precaution!
Just thinking about dinner, and the only thing I have to eat is burgers or Italian sausages. I'll have to check the weather and decide if I need to cook inside or outside today. Rain looks to be in the forecast so it might be an inside day.
I finally went through my canning supplies, found everything I need except the jelly strainer and pectin. I actually found two packs of pectin but they expired two yrs ago, I guess it's been awhile since I've made jam! I've been picking berries and putting them in the freezer, I still need about 4 more cups then I'm ready for jelly! :)

    Have a great day everyone!

That's great news Shona that your neck feels better. I hate sore necks. I took some SamE this morning and later 3 Advil, inflammation is finally going down on mine.
Good news too that the smoke is lifting, hope so enough that you can get out with the kids and the dogs.
Yum on the jelly ... what kind do you plan to make?

Weather is still iffy here. We had rain but it's still overcast and gloomy and a pot of soup seems in order so I'll make the ground beef vegetable soup we like. DH is home and will spend the weekend. Doctor appointment went well and all looks to good.

Hi again. It is a quiet day today.

Shona, there are no foreign temp. workers in this area. There is not enough work to support them. Glad the smoke has lessened and your neck is better. Wayne is getting an angiogram.....they go thru a blood vessel to the heart to check. The hope is the hat a small blockage has returned that can be removed easily. The stent may also be in need of replacing. Or, if other blockages are there, he may have to have a bypass surgery....we hope not! Daughter will have Fritz and his buddy is feeding horses.

Too bad you didn't get to see Camden, Joce the best layed plans of mice and men! Good luck today!

Feel free to send rain, Linda. We need it.

    Hi everyone!
I'm doing very well. I can put weight down and walk with just the boot so no crutches. I had a rough day Wed from the painkillers but I stopped them wed afternoon. Pain isn't too bad just a pulling sensation when I stand but it's ok to walk.
I worked from home today but being home for days is wearing thin. I can't really shower because I can't get the incision wet so I made an appointment for a wash and blow dry on Sunday that should make me feel presentable lol my regular person is on vacation but it should be fine since I'm not getting it cut.

I like this anti inflammatory stuff I got on Amazon for tight muscle headaches and muscle aches. It's called Penetrex. I originally bought it for the plantar faciatis but it doesn't do much for that. Rachel and Becca like it too for muscle aches and tension headaches. It's $20 for a small container but lasts a while. I don't like taking a ton of Advil and stuff.

Good afternoon and hello to all. Good you got all the haying done Karen. That's a big job! Bet you are relieved. Meant to answer a question a few days back about my Bissel vacuum. I like it. I like it a lot. It's very light weight and picks up well. And if it crap out in 6 months oh well. Was just a $36.00 investment! But again, I don't have any high traffic areas like I used too. No dog hair or kids tracking in and out anymore. Except for Kaiden but he generally doesn't play much outdoors when he is here unless in the pool. Glad you are doing well Laurie. Take it easy! Will have to check out that Penetrex.

Dinner last night was very good. Will certainly go back. Started with and appetizer of bruschetta. I had the chicken parm and hubs had the veal marsala. Then ended with a slice each of Long Island Cheese Cake. Soooooo good but was stuffed!
Going out again tonight. Going to head to the beach in a little while. My ex's band is playing at one of the restaurant/bars so will go listen to them and have dinner there. This spot is right on the beach and is an excellent place to watch the sunset. Don't think we will see much of one tonight as it's been overcast all day and a bit stormy all around us. No rain here yet though. But that's ok as it will be nice and cool. Only 81F right now which is far better than the 91's we've been getting! Nice walk on the beach will be just the ticket after a long work week.

Hope all enjoy the rest of Friday.

I'd gladly send you some rain Karen ... consider it done.

That's awesome Laurie that you are off the pain killers and able to walk. I'm sure you'll feel much better too with a wash and blow dry. Sounds like all is going well. I'll look for the Penetrex. I need to place an Amazon order soon too.

Just got an Amazon order today. I ordered a cellphone case wallet combo thing and it's really nice! Also got DH an iPad case that's nice too. Got him a word game too that we can play to help him with comprehension and speaking. Gotta keep exercising his mind.

I've used it on tight neck muscles and it makes the headache go away. I also did a little test to see if it really worked lol. I had taken a high intensity exercise class and needless to say I could barely sit the next day. So I used it on one inner thigh and by the next day that side was fine.
    I'm bored lol

Hi Laurie. Glad you are feeling less pain. Working from home can have its advantages. I would miss a shower, also. When my hand was broken I had to wrap plastic around it and shower with the arm up and only use one hand. What a trip! Enjoy the shampoo and set.

Your dinner out sounded great, Kimmer. Will look at Bissell vacuums at the wonderful world of WalMart next trip.

    Cool Amazon purchases, Linda!

Went in to WalMart for a few items and spent over $232. Yipes! The cart was not even full.

It's a cream. I tried to copy a link to Amazon but I can't do it from iPad.
It has very good reviews too. I did review it and they sent me some free which is nice.

SP Kimmer. Glad dinner was good last night. When ever we try a new Italian restaurant one of us always gets a chix parm ... it's the acid test for us, if the chix parm is good then we consider the restaurant good.
