Finally Friday!

Friday is finally here! I know, that is a weak title, but hey, it is all I'm capable of so early. If I ever get my camera synchronize to this laptop I will have some pictures to upload. Till then---

It is a sunny morning in Central Missouri. A cup of hot coffee is sitting beside me, and even Geezer showed up to have breakfast, a drink of water, and a little TLC. He hid out yesterday when the propane tank was delivered, but has decided to return to the land of the living.

This is Wayne’s Sunday to stay over. The weather is threatening SNOW on Saturday and freezing rain on Sunday. If I recall correctly it goes from snow to freezing rain to rain to a high of 60 on Monday, then super cold again on Wednesday. We are between two snow belts this time so who knows what we will have. He is not concerned about driving in it but I don’t plan on going anywhere until Spring.

The electrician comes to finish / test the generator this morning. It has a few gallons of propane in it so they can run the test, will probably be filled next week with 400 gallons, enough for about 4 weeks. Providing the weather permits! So far we are not that happy with the propane company. The office says one thing and the driver another.

Some of these days the stove is to be installed. If the ice ever melts from the roof. Wayne’s buddy is ready to help chop wood for it - I think he is anxious to see the finished product. So am I.

Morning! Karen don't you just pop your camera card into your computer and you pictures pop up? Your weather sounds pretty crazy. Ours is up, down, up, down as well, but not as extreme as your lol!

I have a bunch of errands to run today. Exchange Bri's face mask, get more checks from the bank, Sam's, and something else but I can't remember. Guess I should have made a check list lol! We should be getting a call today from the Union. Girl Scout meeting tonight and I'm in charge of food AGAIN. I told her I would just pick up pizza and she said she would reimburse me. I'll probably take some apples as well to slice up to make myself feel like they are putting something healthy in their bodies :)

Tomorrow will be pretty busy so not sure if I'll be popping in. Briauna has a tournament tomorrow so I'll be getting up at 6AM to help her get ready. Then Michael is taking her and they have to be in Galveston by 7AM. They have no idea how long it will last, just depends on how they do. If they keep winning it will go all day and then start again Sunday. I'll be taking Caiden to his T-ball scrimmage at 10A.M. then back home and off to MIL's house for the family get together. Theme is Fondue February. I have a fondue pot I got last year that I've never used. I'm going to make http://www.iwashyoudry.com/2014/04/11/spinach-artichoke-fondue/ I'll fill you in later on what else is made :) I really hope Michael and Bri will be able to come...I mean I want them to win and keep playing all day (and I'm guessing into the evening?) but I also want them to come and hang out with the family :(

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Good Morning Karen! Your winter has officially started hasn't it! :) That's pretty good if you can rely on your generator for a four week period! And what all will the generator be fed to? Fridge, freezer, whole house?
A cold but clear and sunshiny day in the Ottawa Valley. The Sens Game didn't start 'til 10:30 last night as we were playing LA. I stayed up 'til
11 but couldn't keep the ole eyelids open any further and headed to bed but Jim stayed up and we won 1-0. Yay! :)
Jim's going to continue cleaning off that pond today and I will do another quick house clean to make sure everything looks good for our guests tomorrow. I am also going to make Jim's and my belated Valentine's Day dinner this evening since we didn't properly celebrate it on the date (Jim's brother and family were here as was Benjamin). I'm going to make a Chinese Fondue for the very first time. I think I'll use this recipe for the broth.
    http://www.food.com/recipe/chinese-fondue-202596
I have scallops, shrimp, thin slices of chicken and beef, red peppers and mushrooms. If anyone has any hints or suggestions please shout them out. This is new to me. Jim and I used to hold many a Fondue dinner party when we were first married with the hot oil in the pot but I've never done a broth one.
    Wishing everyone a great day.

Hi. Michelle, the camera card can be popped in to the computer but there are older photos I don't want on until I can "tell" the photo program to accept them. I can either use the card or a USB cord to add them. Plus they are on the old hard drive, which can be removed and put in case and used as another hard drive. Or so my daughter says. It sounds like you have a busy day.

Janet, it is a whole house generator. We probably will not use the furnace, but rely on the wood burning stove for heat. It will make the generator last longer before refilling propane at close to $2 gallon (more or less).

Scallops - shrimp - chicken - beef - Hmmm! What a fantastic pasta dish that would make, with onion, garlic, tomatoes, in a cream sauce! I made pasta last night (we are not supposed to eat much pasta because it is processed, but once in a while is O.K. I threw together a cream sauce of cherry tomatoes, onion, garlic, cream, and spices over mini farfalle (? sp) bowties. It was good. Fattening, but good.

SP Michelle! :) Until you mentioned putting the camera card into the computer it hadn't dawned on me that that was a way of downloading the pictures from the camera. I have a little cord with a USB on one end that I plug into my camera and then the pictures download. I should really try the card method some time just for fun and to advance my skills. :) Bri's face mask? Baseball? Good luck to Bri at her tournament. That is hilarious that we're both having a Fondue in the next couple of days. Can't wait to hear all about your Family Fondue Gathering. Wow on your Spinach and Artichoke Cheesy Fondue. It looks FABULOUS. Jim doesn't like cheese fondues. Sigh.
I have a ton of photos on our old desk top in the basement that I want migrated to my Mac too Karen. I guess it's a matter of me uploading them on to a memory stick and then transferring them. Very cool on the whole house generator. Here it is more common for people just to use a generator to keep the fridge and stove in operation, etc. I don't think I know anyone with a whole house one.

Hi Janet. I have not put all the old pictures on my MacBook Pro. Yet. May just leave them on the old drive and start over. Yes, I can use the card but am not wanting to put all of them on the new laptop, and want to keep them on the thumb drive and / or old hard drive. Plus the new program doesn't like the old photos so I will have to "tell" it to change to accept them, and really don't want to try that until I check will computer-tech daughter to see exactly how that is done. Guess meantime I could insert a new card in the camera and go from there, adding from the card as we take the pictures.

The propane guy came and had a fit about the road because it had some ice - what a wuss! He was driving a huge truck with wide tires and winch and 4WD and it is made for this type road. Wayne's buddy stayed inside because he was not happy with the city slicker dude. Am being called - back later.

Lunch is over and dishes in DW and/or washed by hand. The popcorn ceiling is removed, sheet rock (wall board ?) and all and the upper layer can be smoothed and painted. No massive undertaking is needed. Whew!

I tried to download older pix but the program needs a change to accommodate them. It will happen. Or I will leave them on the USB port. It will happen.

I you made your own home made pasta Karen would that be considered okay? Wow! The guys did a quick job of getting that popcorn ceiling down. Good job!
Jim is almost done the pond and I've completed the house work. Need to head outside and cut a few tree boughs to decorate with, empty recycling and compost and then I think it'll be deemed Hot tub time. Sure is nice out there and supposed to be even nicer tomorrow. Sunshine and no wind makes all the difference.

Power is off so they can do the electricity-disconnection and set up the generator. We went to the sun room to find that it does NOT hold the warmth - Wayne turned up the heat earlier but after an hour it was back to cool again. I'm covered up with my purple throw and reasonably comfy. The sun room is filled with odds and ends from the guest / storage room. I'll be glad when all is done and the deer-mount and (not usable - fixed so they won't fire) decoration only rifles and gun rack can return to their proper home in the guest room instead of on the floor in the sun room.

A friend of Wayne's buddy makes stickers for car windows. Since I jokingly refer to any catastrophe whether it is earthquake or fire or whatever as a zombie apocalypse she made a small sticker "Zombie Response Vehicle" -- I want to put it on the back window of the Gator. Wayne is not impressed.

Pasta is pasta, homemade or not - it is made from [wheat] flour, which is a no-no.

I did ignore guidelines yesterday and we had pasta in cream sauce, with a glass of wine after supper. It was sinfully good.
