Good morning. The sun is shining and the air is crisp and cold in the Ozarks.

I am in the sun room, enjoying the pre-cofffee quiet before the day revs into gear. Guess everyone is asleep or busy with the activities of the day. So thought I’d check in early.

I Googled the brined chicken recipe, Janet. It does sound interesting. I”m not not sure I’d ever accumulate that much pickle juice, Wayne won’t eat them — he even picks them off of his MacDonald burgers. Ha ha.

It seems like more people are being “kicked out” of GR when they forget their password. I hope some day the powers that be fix that problem. Meanwhile, I just stay logged in, although it is the same pw I have used forever.

Another bird just crashed into the glass in the door. It bounced off and flew away, so hopefully it is just a bit groggy from the experience. They even fly into the screens.

Hi to all. Best get that cup of coffee so I can face the day.

good morning karen! love your avatar pic. i just finished my second cup of coffee so can ease into the day now. :) the pickled chicken recipe was really tasty. i'm going to post it in here so i can find it again as both jim and i deemed it a keeper. i love pickles so go through jars fairly regularly. it'd be tricky to accumulate enough brine if you're not a big pickle purchaser alright. :)
gonna try another new recipe tonight for peking pork. will serve it with some rice and a spicy asian cabbage slaw.

The little deer has returned. They are in the yard now. Wayne's buddy stopped in and went around to the back door so he wouldn't disturb them. He texted us! So funny.

The avatar is a foggy day in the lower field. For some reason GR has not changed it on my latest recipe, no biggy.

Hello, still morning here and drinking my coffee. Will have a late breakfast then off to take the kids to the dentist! Will have some sort of pasta and sauce for dinner tonight.

Last night's steaks were awesome, I got 4 big steaks from the 2-3# sirloin tip roast, and close to a pound of cuts from the end of the roast for a stew later on. I pan fried them and added a few drops of balsamic, Worcestershire, soy, garlic and mustard powder and reduced it for a yummy sauce. Served with roasted potato "steak fries". The bleu cheese bacon salad kit was awful, even the 'garbage can stomach' couldn't eat it! So we had Caesar salad instead. I thought it would be a little more gourmet and have actual crumbles of cheese, but it was a bleu cheese flavoured dressing that was awful. I usually don't buy salad kits, I've learned my lesson! ;)

Today is the Friday before Superbowl 50!! Woop dee doo!! LOL - if I could wear a Denver jersey, I would. Even tho' I haven't been a supporter of the team all year ... I just don't want the Carolina Panthers to win. Payton needs to go sit down somewhere. Cam will be around for years. The only thing that interests me would be SUPERBOWL SNACKS!! Maybe Payton will retire.
It's a beautiful crisp sunny day here in GA where we have all 4 seasons in one day. I love reading all of your food choices. Obviously I don't get out much! We pretty much stick to the same kind of foods. Chicken, ground turkey & every now & then a steak.
My husband & I are going to look at an exercise bike this afternoon. Hopefully it will be worth it. We bought a Bowflex Treadclimber last year that works fine, but we wanna swap it for the bike.
Whatever happened to Lori (sparrow24?) Does she still check in? I've made so many friends on GR. Sadly I am not on Facebook anymore to get updates. I am on Instagram and Pinterest tho ...

hi shona! oh dear on 2 dentist's appnt's on a fri.! :( that's a great idea to make steaks out of a nice roast. i don't have a meat slicer and don't trust myself to do an even job with a knife. your meal sounded wonderful. too bad on the bleu cheese salad. a lot of premade salads have been recalled lately for listeria. i've been trying to avoid buying them.
hope you had success bike shopping jett. hubby bought a recumbent bike a few years ago and he likes it. lori doesn't check in much anymore. :( i chat with her on fb. she is heading on vacation with bryan this weekend to the smoky mountains. she had surgery recently to remove some cysts from her ovaries and it went well.
have fun at the girl scout meeting michelle.
jim and i had a lovely day. went out for a drive in the countryside doing some family tree research and then had a late ploughman's lunch at a cozy pub. home for a hot tub. just prepped dinner. smells yummy so far.

Had the running club banquet last night. I worked at Macy's so I had one of the cosmetic girls do my makeup really glam with false eyelashes and everything. Lol. When I run its no makeup and a baseball cap. One girl said she only knew it was me by my laugh! Food was really good. Broke my diet but was worth it. They had eggplant parm, lasagna, chicken parm and chicken broccoli and ziti.
Got a snowstorm today kids had no school. Frank and I where both at work and my neighbor and old man came by and did our driveway and path with the snowblower. Rachel baked some brownies and rang the doorbell and gave them to him to say thanks.
I had a lean cuisine for dinner at Macy's since I worked til 7:30 but the fam ordered Chinese food.m I'm steering clear one cheat night is enough. I just got into the smaller size pants.
