Finely Chopped Friday!

Good Morning Everyone! To look outside it is seemingly nice.....blue sky, sunshine....but it's chilly. -5C/23F. I read it's going to warm up a tad next Tuesday so Jim and I will wait to bring the patio furniture in until then.

Jim and I are going to a play this evening in Almonte. I am just going to make something small for us to eat ahead of time. Perhaps some Wonton soup or I can heat up some Jamaican Patties. I'll see what Jim wants.

We are planning on heading to Jim's Dad's cottage tomorrow (if the weather permits), so I would like to make some Thai chicken sipping broth today to bring along in the car as part of lunch. I'll get everything packed up today as well.

Gonna make a Tomato and cheddar omelette with hot sauce for breakfast.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

    Good Morning Everyone! Happy Friday.

Wow, that's cold Janet. Maybe it'll warm up enough to feel good being outside to bring in the furniture. Sometimes when the sun is shining it feels good even when it's cold. Enjoy the play tonight. What are you seeing?

Karen ... how is your daughter feeling? Would GS do well with a combination door lock? They make them so you don't have to carry a key. Glad you got your deer processed and in the freezer. Do you have plans to go out again?

Not much planned today. Will probably go to the fitness center later but not sure what else. The pavers will be sealed tomorrow so we plan to be home then so today is the day to get out. Will have leftover minestrone for lunch and maybe we will go out tonight someplace casual. Not sure about that yet either.

Good Morning Linda! The Play we are seeing is about the History of Pakenham, a small town in the area. It's written by a lady that we know, so it'll be fun. The combination door lock is a good idea. We used to sell a lot of them for teenage children when I managed the Hardware store. :) Enjoy your dinner out tonight if you go.

    Good Morning Everyone!
Enjoy the play, Janet. Are you going to stay over at the cottage or come back the same day? Weather seems a bit iffy tomorrow so they say anyway. Possibly some snow and freezing rain tomorrow but that might change by then.

Enjoy your day, Linda whatever you plan on doing.

As Janet mentioned it is nice and sunny but cold today. Yesterday was miserable! I got my haircut and it was a misty damp and cold. After that, I went to Foodsmiths and when I came out of the store it was pouring! UGH! Cold and pouring rain just what I needed! NOT! So I decided to come home and bypass going to The Perth Company. I plan on making a beef barley soup today. It should be filling enough for my dinner tonight. Then Den can have his ribeye steak and oven fries as usual b/c he isn't a fan of soup at all.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

    Hi Janet. Enjoy your outing!

Linda, we are going out in a bit. Too windy to sit under oak and cedar trees in the woods....so will have to go to he fields. His buddy texted that he is in a blind watching the leaves fall...not a single deer.

Joce, we could use some of your rain. Slight chance tomorrow. Fire Dept fundraiser is also tomorrow. I will make either a banana or pumpkin dessert for it.

GS found the key and wallet where he left them, crisis averted....he was lectured on not removing them from pockets and laying them down. Daughter is feeling better, probably a slight infection....she was told to get a mammogram just to check, but they are expensive and she doesn't have insurance, so it is on hold.

I put the infamous picture on FB. It was titled What Happens When You Leave two Full Grown Men Unsupervised, but FB removed the title for whatever reason.

Have to take the RV in to be winterized next week or the week after. Otherwise same old same old.

    See you later.

Hi Joce! Yes, we're going to stay over in Haliburton Sat. night, returning Sun. afternoon. The weather report does not look good but we're busy with other things the next two weekends and we all know the weather is going to get worse as we go on, not better. :) If driving conditions are horrible we won't risk it either there or back. Oh yum on Beef Barley soup!!! Nice!

I was most disappointed to go to the freezer and discover that I am completely out of home made chicken stock, so there goes my plans for Wonton soup and sipping broth. I have lots of bones so will do a new batch next week. Maybe I'll go see if I have a jar of Beef and Barley soup in the freezer now that Joce has me craving it. :)

SP Karen. Glad to hear your daughter is feeling better and that your GS found his keys. Isn't it a bit odd for your daughter's Dr. to suggest a mammogram because of a slight infection? I just don't see the correlation? I saw your amusing photo of the men and the ladder on FB. FB didn't remove your title I don't think. I can see that sentence but it appears that you put that photo in an album entitled "When Grown Men are unsupervised", as opposed to just writing that in your post along with the photo.

The play sounds cool Janet. Anything with history has my attention! Hope the weather isn't bad and that you are able to do what you need at the cabin. Ut-Oh, no chix stock ... that's like not having toothpaste, or electricity, or gas in the car. LOL!! I keep "emergency" boxed cartons in the pantry but I'll buy an organic brand.

I bet you were miserable running errands yesterday Joce. Nothing worse than being in freezing cold wet weather. Enjoy your beef barley soup. Will you try to go to The Perth Company another day?

That's good GS found his key and wallet Karen and that nobody took them. I seen the picture on FB ... Oh My God! what were they thinking? Happy to hear DD is feeling better too. I too am perplexed about the mammogram. Is it just because. I had the thermography done and go back on the 29th to review with the doctor. Why can't he just call and say everything is fine, oh I know, $$$.

Hello everyone! Just checking in ... I know I can't keep up with the threads! Hoping you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. It's a shame this site isn't monitored anymore.
Things are good with us and I'll try to check in every now & then ... even tho' I'm deleting some of my recipes. I'm still here ... kinda LOL
    Hugs, Jett

I should truly keep some boxed chicken broth on hand in case of emergencies I agree Linda. I still feel like I'm not quite 'on top' of my pantry and food items after having been away for two months this summer. It is too bad the Dr. can't just give you results of the Thermography over the phone. :(

Hi Jett! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

    Hi Jett!

Linda, they ways of doctors at the ER are beyond me. She seems to feel better and is using naturopathic stuff until she decides what to do next.

Janet, probably operator head space kicked in. It shows on my FB page but not the news feed.

We went out hunting, saw two itty bitty baby deer in one field and he just left them alone to grow bigger. In the lower field two small does and then a bigger one came along. I thought the bigger one was fine but not in reach of my rifle, he thought it was too small. The last one stood and stared almost directly at the tent, then spotted the Gator at the edge of the field and stared at it for a while. She then grazed happily until he got out of the tent and casually strolled to get the Gator....she watched him until he was almost there then flashed her tail as a warning to any other deer in the area and ran into the woods.

    Tomorrow is another day.
