Fishy Friday

    Happy Friday Everyone!

LD had a grooming appointment early this morning so needed to get up and out. He is still having break-outs on his belly so while there I had both his groomer and the vet look at what was going on being there were active break-outs to look at. Vet concluded "environmental allergies" and then the break-outs turn into a minor skin bacterial infection so he got a shot to stop the itchiness and a medicated shampoo that I have to use every other day until the break-outs clear up. I have no idea what could be causing an allergic reaction. Vet said it's just "in the air". I'll have to reference all my natural sites and such and see what more I can do to help him as I don't believe anti-itch shots are the forever answer. Vet doesn't believe it's food related based on location of break-outs and severity.

I have not found "farm fresh" tomatoes here Janet. Not sure if it's too hot, too wet, ??? I had even tried to grow potted varieties with no luck. Happy to hear your dinner of Prime Rib was fabulous. Too funny Jim's salad was only lettuce and croutons. Glad to you were able to enjoy time with your friend despite the circumstances while she is in RR.

Sounds like good progress is being made with your bathroom Karen. If it's not one thing it's another … hope the air conditioning system is an easy and inexpensive fix.

    Hope everyone is sleeping better.

Gym and grocery store planned for today. Perseid's meteor shower is in full swing and best viewing is over the weekend but of course in the wee hours of the night. Since nobody is sleeping well these days and if the skies are clear look for them and make a wish if you see one.

Good afternoon. I drew a blank on thread ideas so am glad you came up with a good idea. Could LD’s problem be the shampoo / flor cleaner you use? Or a change in the ingredients? If it is on the tummy it could be from something she lays on. Or else one of eternal mysteries that come with pet ownership! LOL!

Made sandwiches for lunch. Tried a concocted recipe that turned out pretty good. Wayne likes it okay and his buddy really liked it. I added it to GR before forgetting all the ingredients...ha ha!

Only lost one hour of sleep from joint pain last night. Hmmm! I may top taking an ibuprofen and see how it goes. Don’t care to take NSAID’s any more that necessary.

In my mind I went thru everything with LD and what might be causing his out-breaks Karen and can’t identify a cause. Same shampoo, same everything. I thought/think it was when he went on the lanai and would lay on the pavers but he hasn’t been out and again broke out. I even stopped diffusing so who knows.
I’ll have to look at your recipe ... glad to hear it was enjoyed. One hour sleep 💤 loss isn’t bad.

I’m at the gym waiting for DH to finish. I didn’t eat enough yet today and started to feel weak so I stopped after 45 minutes on the treadmill. Next stop FOOD store.

Poor LD Linda. :( How often would the Vet give LD these anti-itch shots? Cool on the Peresid`s Meteor Shower. The sky is very dark in Rainy River so if I`m up I should get a good look.

Glad you had a bit better sleep last night Karen.

Just noticed your Avatar Linda. It`s priceless. :)

Had a good visit with my girlfriend last night and fed her a gi-normous bowl of Beef Barley soup.
    Beef Barley Soup
    Some pita chips with hummus,
    Beet Salad With Tarragon Dressing
a glass of white wine and a shot glass of that Chocolate Grappa. She hadn`t eaten since the night before. I invited her to join us for lunch today but she didn`t respond. I`m thinking the worst. :(

Jim brought our car over to the garage and I walked Mom up to the bakery. She complained all the way there and back but she did well. She had half an egg salad sandwich and a couple of sips of Pepsi.

Tonight we`re invited over to my Aunt Irene`s for a Walleye Fish Fry. I`m quite looking forward to it.

The shot lasts about 4-6 weeks and then if the itching starts again you give again. For how long the shot would need to be given depends on the allergy season?? or the dog's reaction/non reaction to whatever is causing the allergy. When dogs get itchy they lick their paws a lot to release histamines and LD was licking a lot so I'll know if it works if he stops licking his paws without me nudging him and telling him to stop. I thought he was just being annoying and I feel bad now that I was wrong.

I'm so sorry that your friend is going thru what she is Janet. Hoping for peace. Enjoy your fish fry!

Good afternoon and hello to all. So glad you and Jim had a nice anniversary dinner Janet. Your Aunt's fish fry fits right in with Linda's thread title, lol! Allergies with dogs can be a mystery, especially here in Florida Linda. I had a dog many years back that had severe allergies. Never could figure out to what. He had to have those shots on a regular basis and I truly believe they ended his life premature. He eventually had a stroke of sorts and was too young for that. If I recall correctly, I think he was around 6, maybe 7 years old. Not trying to scare you or anything but I know you don't like the shots anymore than I do. And again, this goes back quite a few years and may not even be the same drugs. Sorry to hear your friend is going thru this Janet. Was good you got her away for a bit.

Karen, saw your ham sandwich recipe and it looks delightful! I'm wondering if I could sub the goat cheese for feta cheese with herbs???? Not a big fan of goat cheese and not really sure why as I love most ALL cheeses, lol!

Not sure what is for dinner here yet. Don't really feel like cooking so might just order something from our fav pizza place. Maybe not pizza but something else. They have delight hot sandwiches and a good amount of side dishes. Will see what hubs wants to do. Had a big lunch so not even hungry yet.

Hope all enjoy the rest of the day!

I am sure feta would work well. It is the same crumbly texture and should be yummy!
